WCCO goes from CBS to ABC news

Seems like it. Both of Audacy’s west coast all-news stations went to ABC (KNX and…KCBS).
Yup... As I wrote in a different thread, it was very strange to hear (at 4 pm PST, just an hour after the switch) the news anchor lead into the TOH legal ID with the words "Now ABC News covers the world, next". For many years those three letters had matched the station's calls.

This should work out well for WCCO, and the other Audacy stations. From what the brand manager stated, they weren't looking to merely fill a few minutes at the top and bottom of the hour, they were seeking a news partner. In other words, a true network news provider that was as availabe availabe ble 24/7 for breaking news. Also one that could provide personalities that could quickly be available to local hosts for national nuance. They had that with CBS, even after the sale to Audacy.

For the non-locals, WCCO holds an interesting position. They're pretty news-heavy, but rely heavily on local, rather than syndicated personalities. And they don't do conservative agitprop like most talk stations. They still consider themselves to be "the good neighbor".
