I know it's wishful thinking but I wish Cumulus bought WCRN and turned it into a local news & talk station like WPRO in Providence.

Speaking of WCRN and Cumulus, I heard a commercial on WCRN for an upcoming kids fair in Marlboro. At the end of the spot, they mentioned that it was brought to you by XLO 104.5. Is this unusual to mention another station on the air unless its a cluster mate? I don't think I've ever heard this.

Given how little 1260AM and 1510AM in Boston went for....I can't imagine WCRN commanding much of a price.

I wouldn't place WCRN in the same price range. Their 50,000 watts have quite a reach. Unlike the 50,000 watts of WMEX that pretty much goes over the ocean.

the 1510 license in Boston was almost worthless.

50KW on 1510 gives you about the same coverage as 5KW on say 590, all other things being equal ( antenna array, path to salt water, etc)

1510 Boston was also hampered by a tower rent that is rumored to be a fortune. And it isn't like you are going to be able to move it or build another physical plant anywhere inside 495.

Plus the aforementioned "broadcasting to the fish" issue....

Look at the "predicted' distant coverage for WRCN day and night, it covers a good piece of real estate

The other has a goo coverage...but the signal covers a lot of trees.

Two are licensed to Boston...one is licensed to Worcester.

DalyXXL buys 1510AM for only $175k

First of all Meth as the father of a special needs child I find your comment incredibly out of line and it as nothing to do with all the PC stuff. Secondly, stations value is also tied to billing in terms of profit. WMEX has none. They have nothing of real value. There equipment is old, they lease studio space which is over priced and at a very poor location and yes their transmitter, which needs updating or replacing, site is a bad deal. In short, they may even get less then they paid or will eventually have the station go dark. The only thing of value they have is a license.

Somehow 'MEX is still on. No idea what Sandy, Michele etc get paid. Morning drive co-host is part of the family that owns the station. Have yet to see them go into a crazy quilt schedule like the previous owners where it would vary from NBC Sports Radio to paid progressive talk to Brother Stair.
