WCTZ 96.7 Being Sold; To Go Christian Contemporary

I can see now an app for a 96.7 somewhere between New Haven Providence and Cape Cod away from WTIC 96.5 and WEHN 96.9. the closest 96.7 Frequency is a LP from Plymouth MA.

I sure hope not! (Unless it's another K-Love station!) I want to be able to hear them!

If you're getting 96.7 with a lot of static in West Haven, it'll be even weaker since it's moving further away from you. When the new 96.7 signs on in eastern Connecticut, you won't be able to hear that where you are.

Can you link to any documentation for this? Anything on 96.7 in eastern CT would be a tight squeeze next to Hartford's 96.5 WTIC and Long Island's 96.9 WEHN. Is it in the northeast "Quiet Corner?" It may not be protected, but there is also an LP-FM WSUB in Ashaway, RI near the CT line at 96.7.

whats interesting is it looks that 96.7 will go from a Class A signal to a class B signal. so technically, much of the original area with be covered with a city grade signal. New haven area and Bridgeport will probably be lost due to Overcrowding "overload" interference in those areas.

96.7 is staying as a class A.

I thought with the COL change so did the classification. Did the city grade signal change from 10 miles to 20? or is the city grade signal still 10?

Has Metro North Been notified of the new FM signal?
I am wondering if Metro North will have signal and radio issues. I don't think they are aware of this new FM signal. IMHO. The transmitter from the top of the Trump is going to "scream down" to the new haven commuter rail line which goes right next to the trump building causing interference. Do any of you know if MNRR has a signal repeater in this area?

Metro North radios operate in the 161 Mhz VHF band.
What does this have to do with WCTZ 96.7 Mhz?

The RF interference from 96.7. thats all. then again is it so far apart on the band that it will not matter. I know near WEBE and WCTZ in stamford you try listening to radio a lot of "fm's" are knocked out. will interference be the same knocking out many signal or is 161 Mhz so far from 96MHZ that it won't matter? MNRR probably has filters to block out interference or a booster near Stamford but I just don;t know so I am asking some of you the experts who have 30-40+ years over me.

likewise I am wondering if Meriden Peak stations make it into Old Greenwich a lot better. I know near Port Chester they come in Better than near stamford and I don;t know if that is because of the RF power off the Stamford 96.7 WCTZ tower.

When I was younger, always remembered loosing many NYC stations on My walkman when I took the train to Stamford. Likewise in Old Greenwich, when their was silent air, I would Hear WCTZ, WKHL at the time on the background of the audio on most of my Walkman's. same goes when I got to the Bronx, WFUV knocked out 92.3 K-rock for a good 1/2 mile around the older transmitter when I was on the train to NYC.

Near the interchange of I-95 and Route 8 in downtown Bridgeport, WEBE knocks out WBLS for a short distance.

WCTZ is now of air. Just Static on 96.7. as I guess I am getting the Meriden peak stations a bit better now not fully stronger but better. radio 104 was listenable in old greenwich this morning on my car radio.

Later on, in New Rochelle, I glanced at the Trump tower near I-95. It looked like a short black stick on the building's roof with at least 4 bays on it. I wonder who that could be for?

I-95.1 WRKI gets a big boost on My walkman... still not strong enough to listen to HOH (house of hair) in old Greenwich but stronger. I could only imagine with WCTZ off how much stronger the booster would be WRKI-1 in Norwalk would be in Stamford now if it were to ever get turned back on...
