WDEL isn't airing all preseason Phillies games

This afternoon, I was scanning around the dial and heard Georgetown basketball on 610 WIP, Rick Jensen on WDEL, the Phillies vs Pirates on 1210 WPHT and 94.1 WIP. So apparently WDEL isn't airing all of the preseason Phillies games. It seemed strange to not hear WDEL airing the Phils. The Phils did lose, but what's the deal? Is WDEL having a hard time getting enough local spot revenue for the preseason?

Having day games most of spring training really hurts your weekday line-up. Normally, it is the flagship station only that airs all of the games. There really are not that many listeners this early in the season.

Hi Mike.

First off, the Phillies Radio Network is only airing Spring Training road games.

WDEL will be airing all of the weekend games (like today's), and some selected weekday afternoon games (like this coming Tuesday and Thursday).

For whatever reason, all home games (Clearwater) are on TV...so The Phillies Radio Network decided to air just the road games. It's a decision that we (WDEL) disagree with. The original schedule was to air all weekend games, which is exactly what we wanted.

Hey, Chris - unrelated but still about WDEL.

When will the changes for the construction permit take place? The power increase?

Thanks in advance.

Me too, and hopefully a lot of other citizens of Phightin's Nation. BTW I miss listening to games from Jack Russell - especially when the locomotive horn from trains passing within a couple of blocks of JRS sounded. ;D

Everything is on the drawing board at this point. To my knowledge, a timetable hasn't been finalized.
