WDIA's Jeff Lee and KWAM's Thaddeus Matthews - War of Words

He's been discussed on the site before. And I would think (after reading his blog post), that it would have the opposite effect.

Yeah, I know Jeff personally and I don't think for a second that he went that irate. Can't imagine him even saying some of those things..Why? over Thaddeus, ya right..The fact that he pays to get his program aired isn't something one should be proud of. Furthermore, dusting 'DIA on a station that doesn't even show up in 12+ numbers...Let's get real!

Thaddeus Mathews left this comment under the Jeff Lee story:
Delusional?

"My show just went to daytime Jan 1 2008. Let's see what happens when the spring book comes out later this year. If WDIA was not worried about me, tell me why they are moving the Jeff Lee show back an hour before I come on. Simple, because they hope to get an audience at 3pm and hold them until 6. But by the time I come on at 4, DIA's audience will be glad to switch"

Do we really want to legitimize Matthews by discussing him on this site?

You mean like this?

"Well, he couldn't do any worse than the current ratings. His blog certainly makes for interesting reading..."

Check the archives...

Thuggeus is a total loser.

Jeff Lee gets paid to work at a legendary Memphis heritage station.

Thuggeus has to buy his airtime on a loser station with no measurable audience.

In the last trend, 26 radio stations showed up with at least a fraction of a share. KWAM was not one of them.

Anyone who knows the history of Thuggeus is well aware that his relationships with stations always end in a flurry of bounced checks, changed locks and bankrupcty.

There is no reason to believe this sordid relationship will have a different outcome.

The day WDIA loses audience share to Thaddeus Matthews, will be the day you will find pork in the treetops.

I had to think about that for about 10 seconds. Now you owe me a monitor.

This is such a nice site that I decided to join. As for Jeff Leee the events of my blog did occur, but you think what you want as long as you spell my name correctly. Are any of you radio personalities that any one knows?I

Thuggeous...you ARE NOT known for your "Radio Personality".

You are known for your ignorance and antaganism.

Don't fool yourself.

These people don't have to "Buy" their airtime-the stations actually PAY them to be on.

Oh, yeah..and a lot of them actually have talent and educations.

So, surely, you can see the differences in them and you.

;D

"you think what you want as long as you spell my name correctly"

I didn't realize that spelling (and/or grammar) were top priorities over at thadmatthews.blogspot.com

Attempt at humor.

Ah, Thaddeus Matthews - like the energizer rabbit, he keeps going and going

I have heard so many Thaddeus stories it's hard to imagine that guy even has time to sleep.

I recall hearing some out of town owner ended up with one of the marginal am frequencies, and somehow Thaddeus ends up running the show there. I remember they were actually running commercials encouraging businesses just to run commercials. They had a deal like, 500 commercials for 500 dollars, or something otherwise way out of proportion. ("Step right up folks, and hear your business name on the ra-dee-oh!") And they were running commercials for "Pressure World" (a car wash on Lamar) non-stop, all the time. Rumor had it that the station went off the air for a time just because the utility bills weren't being paid.

Years ago a friend of mine owned a furniture store and Thaddeus stopped by trying to sell him some air time. I remember hearing the conversation and thinking, "this sounds like a sunday service with the reverend money officiating."
