WDRC (AM) relaunches as Trump 103.3 FM

103.3 is dead here in Wallingford.Unless somebody has their Ipod hooked to a tunable Belkin FM modulator tuned to 103.3 in the Walmart parkinglot. In the meantime its sad to see the AM's clutter up the FM dial with translators.Dont mind if they have their own formatted low power stations.More choices to tune in. Forget DXing anymore on open freqs with the new FM trans station clutter ...

Too bad WQUN missed the boat with a translator. They had a great format.

The translator only seems to go out a few miles. I have a hard time picking it up in Newington. (Which is funny they have a big billboard on the Berlin Turnpike and you can't even get the signal there.

Must be a directional signal north. I picked up 103.3 loud and clear in Enfield a few weeks ago. Going back home on I-84 west from Hartford, I lost it quite a few miles before I got to Southington.

What would it be protecting to the south? Second-adjacent WDRC-FM?

There is a deep null to the northwest and a lesser one to the southeast.

OK .Thanks for the info. The TH Xmitters are real flea power .Wasn't sure what they put out.Last Christmas.I've seen some houses using FM transmitters instead of putting speakers in their decoration displays .The neighbors are happy without the loud Christmas music playing all night through speakers in the displays . One house .The display lights told the people to tune to the transmitting freq. I went to check the distance with my car . It was broadcasting up the street a good distance. They were playing clips from the classic Rankin Bass Christmas TV specials.

Why in the world does DRC-AM need a translator in Hartford? The 1360 tower is only 4 or 5 miles away and
it comes in fine in Hartford. We could use the translator here, 18 miles west of Hartford. Their signal is marginal
at best, and after sunset, forget it! It's gone!

1360 is AM, and that is why they want a translator in the areas with the greatest population

They're getting two more translators. 102.5 on Rattlesnake Mountain for 1470 in Meriden and 104.5 in Torrington for 610.
