WDRL - Danville/Roanoke/Lynchburg VA in Receivership, Goes Dark

Read about it HERE . . . . http://www.roanoke.com/news/roanoke/wb/255186

I have heard that they have a fiber connection to DirecTV, and are using that to keep the signal on selected cable systems.

It's a situation that bears watching.

Later . . . .

The judge appointed the cable operator as the bankruptcy trustee for an OTA TV station????? Haven't showered yet this morning, but IMHO that's not what smells.....

WLNE-DT (ABC) is an ABC affiliate that should be on equal footing with their digital signal coverage, compared to WJAR-DT (NBC) channel 10 and WPRI-DT (CBS) channel 12. That stigma of New Bedford, MA and the analog coverage issues is a tough one to break. Plus they didn't sign on until 1963, well after channels 10 and 12 were on the air.

Isn't WJAR-DT on channel 51, or has that changed?

Oh, and another thing: if their ABC affiliation is deemed an incubus, Boston's WCVB, analog 5, digital 20, cleaned up in the latest boston sweeps!
