WDTN 2.1 and 2.2 (Dayton) is comming with a very strong signal in Cincinnati

Damn as of 3:27am channel WDTN 2.1 and 2.2 is comming with a very strong signal in Cincinnati as if it was a local station. Thats the only Dayton digital station I can get to come in with my digital tv other then 14 out of Oxford.Have they tweaked thier antenna or signal stength at all? A weird question why is 2.1 and 2.2 showing the exact same thing? I am just using my outdoor radio shack fm anntena indoors to get my digital channels. I am in Delhi on top of a hill on the 3rd floor of a condo. I am in Delhi on top of a hill on the 3rd floor of a condo. 2.2 looks blury out of focus compaired to 2.1 with the same broadcast. Channel 5 has a way better picture then both of them on thier NBC feed.

There's no open permit for technical changes at WDTN - they've been at full permanent DTV facilities for some time. There are two open permits in Dayton: WRGT hasn't received a license-to-cover for their permanent 425kw facility yet (and might still be operating at only 15kw under STA); and WPTD has a permit to move from channel 58 to channel 16 on Transition Day. (when their analog signal currently occupying channel 16 goes dark)

Not sure why you aren't seeing WHIO on channel 41. They're the same power as WDTN, the towers are very close, and the antenna is almost as high. I suppose analog interference from Louisville is a potential problem. WPTD, WKEF, and WBDT (and again, possibly WRGT) are at relatively low powers, no more than 1/3 of WDTN & WHIO.

Some stations carry a standard-definition simulcast on a .2 channel for the benefit of area cable systems. It guarantees the station (not the cable operator) control over how the 16:9=>4:3 conversion happens.

If you're watching on a HDTV, you may be able to push the "INFO" (or similar) button and see what format 2.1 and 2.2 are being broadcast in. I suspect you'll find 2.1 is 1080i (HD) and 2.2 480i. (SD) Not sure why WLWT's HD would look better than WDTN's.

I just bought a DTV converter box last week and have had major trouble getting WKEF and WBDT to come in. Now I have my answer. 2 is broadcasting HD on .1 and SD on .2. Also to note-WBDT's DT channel is 18.1...For some reason I can't get it to come in on 26.1, even though the DTV box transfers it there when you hit 18.1.
Also to note...If you enter 41.1, it transfers you to 7.1, and 41.2 sends you to 7.2. Also, Channel 16 has like 6 subchannels.
DAYTON DTV CHANNELS
2.1-WDTN HD
2.2-WDTN SD
7.1-WHIO-HD
7.2-WHIO-SD/7 Weather Now
16.1-WPTD
.2-.6-Can't remember off the top of my head
18.1-WBDT-DT
22.1-WKEF-HD
45.1-WRGT-HD/Fox
45.2-WRGT-SD/MyNetwork TV(WWE Smackdown's new home in Fall of 2008)

Hopefully, this is closely enough related to not be considered hijacking a thread. I see all the different digital channels on each station, and I notice some are only putting out one digital channel, yet the public stations are putting out several. There must be a limit as to how many channels that can be broadcast, so why aren't the commercial stations putting out several digital channels so they can sell advertising on them.

Please come up with a better answer than "They don't want to compete with themselves".

There's only so many bits in the bucket. HD programming requires more bandwidth, and each extra subchannel degrades the HD channel picture quality. So stations with fewer subs are better if you prefer a better looking HD feed.

Watch the HD channel on one of those PBS stations and you'll see it looks terrible when there's any amount of motion in the picture. PBS HD in Dayton looks like garbage thanks to all the subs they run.

Unfortunately there are no regulations to force a direct network feed to be available to cable and satellite customers if the local affiliate passes degraded or no HD programming due to subchannels.

Programming is expensive. It can be difficult to sell enough advertising to pay for it. Children's educational programming is required on all subchannels and cannot duplicate what's carried on the main channel.
