WDVY Mount Kisco (106.3) to Family Radio

Scott Fybush, in his weekly column, was speculating that country might be a good choice for Cumulus for WFME as it's signal covers lots of surburban areas.

What is going to happen with WFRH in Kingston at 91.7? Are they're going to change the format to either "Fox Drive FX" as a dance station or a simulcast of WKNY on 91.7 which is WKNY-FM or maybe a CBS Sports Radio station. Anyone?
Disney, Since I saw you mention this in another thread I want to remind you of something. By FCC regulation the low end of the FM dial , 88.1-91.9 is reserved for non –commercial, not for profit-educational broadcasters purposes,( this includes 91.7 WFRH) therefor cannot be sold to or used by any commercial entity.
Furthermore, Family Radio as seen by this transaction, exchanging WFME for WDVY plus cash is not going out of business but selling their larger more valuable assets to raise badly needed cash . WFRH, Kingston is a small market station with a rather weak signal, at least to the south. Therefore I don’t Family Radio selling it. IF they did, by law, it would have to be to another non-profit organization.

On WDVY 106.3 this morning, there was a spot in legal language mentioning that Cumulus plans to transfer the station to Family Radio. A lengthy list of officers from both entities was then read. Listeners were invited to stop by WFAS offices to inspect the related documents.
Is this sort of on air announcement unusual?

Will see what happens. Now Cumulus is getting WFME, and then move Family Radio to 106.3 is a dumb move for this one. WDVY has been running its country format for several months as "Kicks 105.5/106.3", but now, it is going to be a anti-religious format called Family Radio, and I don't care listening to this new one on the new soon-to-be 106.3. Like I mentioned as "MHVRadiofan" said that WFRH in Kingston at 91.7 where it carries Family Radio is not going anywhere. I don't see any changes on 106.3. We shall see.

Excellent reply Disney, your like a retarded version of Allen Sniffen

No. WSAH-TV in Bridgeport/Seymour, CT aired messages about their sale from EW Scrips to Multi-Cultural Broadcasting several years back.

Speaking of WDVY, they are now off the air. Apparently they are among the first of the stations in the New York Metro area to go down during Sandy.

If I'm not mistaken, those announcements are required by FCC regulations.

It is required for anyone that might file comments with the FCC.

Does anyone know why WDVY is still silent?
I believe most FM stations that were knocked off the air by Sandy have already resumed broadcasting.

For those of you who haven't heard that as of yesterday afternoon, WFME gave up its Family Radio affiliate to go into simulcasting WPLJ. That happened at 3:39 PM. I guess maybe they should move Family Radio to Mount Kisco, NY at 106.3 which is WDVY where they carries a country simulcast of "Kicks 105.5/106.3", I hope this should be a place for it.

As for WFRH in Kingston, it's not going to change at 91.7 anytime soon. WFRH still carries its Family Radio affiliate after WFME gave up as of yesterday.

106.3 remained part of Kicks until this morning.

They are now dead air, but 105.5 is still ID-ing as "the new Kicks 105.5 and 106.3."

The change over to Family Radio should happen today.

WDVY 106.3 is still off the air. Family Radio apparently still does not yet have FCC approval to broadcast family radio on 106.3 from a studio in another part of the country. So it would not surprise me if it stays off the air for a few days till they receive the OK.
WDBY on 105.5 no longer mentions 106.3 in its sweepers. It is now just Kicks 105.5.
WDVY was the only country station receivable in most of Westchester, Rockland and Fairfield (CT) Counties. If Cumulus' new station on 94.7 FM out of northern NJ does not pick up the format, country will only be receivable in most parts of those areas on HD2.

It would be nice if Pamal Broadcasting can pick up WFRH 91.7 for WGHQ 920

Huh? You remember 91.7 must be noncommercial right?!

if you just turned off that 91.7 you'd probably get 91.7 WXCI clear as a bell. too bad the state of CT cant just buy it up
