Weather Channel Announces Plans To Invent Names For Winter Storms

Here in Seattle, one snowflake on a weather monitor=40 miles of school closures. And 98% of Western WA drivers don't know how to drive in it. :D

And they sprinkle sand on top of icy roads, instead of using salt to de-ice it, as doing so is not environmentally-friendly. And God help you if you live on a hill.

Salt isn't good for the cars either. After growing up in the Rochester NY area, I'm still amazed to see 10 yo cars in AZ without a hint of rust on them.

When asked of the effectiveness of sand compared to using salt, a hilltopper was quoted, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!" [whoosh]

Think of it, we saved a dandelion today!

Thank you. Has the Weather Channel continued this? I do not watch their channel.

Probably has as much of a chance of catching on as that stupid "Coho" name one of the local stations here (KATU, I think) decided to give the cold east winds that come out of the Gorge.

I think it maybe lasted all of one week, if that.

TWC is trying to create buzz. But this buzz is just stupid. Trying to name winter storms is beyond absurd. Nobody cares. They are too frequent and too hard to rate on a scale. Let it go, Weather channel. It doesn't work.
