Wednesday at 10:30 PM After An All-New "South Park"...

I realize that Comedy Central knows where its bread is buttered, and so they premiere new series after "South Park" in the hopes that the large audience will hold over and eventually the show will hold its own in a different time slot.

This week, the network launched "Ugly Americans" - the latest new series to debut after "South Park." If I'm not mistaken, I believe this is the 274th different show to air on the network in this time slot?

Let's come up with all of the titles of all the shows that have aired in this slot since 1997.

I'll start:

"Drawn Together"
"Strangers With Candy"
"TV Funhouse"
That show with Dimitri Martin...

Incidentally, according to a press release:

"...the series premiere of Ugly Americans... had the highest-rated series premiere among young men since the premiere of Important Things with Demetri Martin..."

Yeah, get back to me in about four months when there's a different show in that time slot...

Comedy Central is one of the few channels that still takes show pitches over the transom. Two things have prevented me from pitching a show idea to them:

(1) The idea that they might pass on it, or worse
(2) They might buy it then slot it after South Park.

I totally agree. From their imaging onward, Comedy Central's the one crown jewel left in Viacom's crown, i.e. a network that's not deviating from its principles because they feel they're not making enough as a nice channel (NBC Universal's Syfy, I'm looking at you.)

Good guess, but IIRC, I think that show originally debuted on Thursday nights at 10:30 PM. I remember that for the fact that it was one of the few new Comedy Central shows that specifically did not premiere after "South Park"!
