WEEI IS BLAMING DAN SHAUNESSEY OF THE GLOBE FOR THEO EPSTEIN'S DEPARTURE FROM THE RED SOX

WEEI IS BLAMING DAN SHAUNESSEY OF THE GLOBE FOR THEO EPSTEIN'S DEPARTURE FROM THE RED SOX

Word on WEEI is that Larry Lucchino leaked the terms of Theo's deal to Shaunessey at the Globe and that Theo lost all confidence in the Red Sox organization and backed out of the 3 year deal. Epstein may be correct that the Red Sox management cannot be trusted in confidential deals.

The Sox's loss and probably the Dodgers gain.

The CURSE is Back !!!!

Re: WEEI quoted a Boston Herald source

Steno -

WEEI quoted some Herald writer (we know it isn't Michael Gee),
I think Theo has a new deal with Los Angeles where he has total
control (plug Bill Parcells deja vu in here). Lucchino's wife will have to start using "store coupons" to quote Belichick...so they can save up for a new GM

Former WBCN GM Tony Berardini should apply, he was right around the corner.

And by the way, yers truly just sent The Globe a lengthy oped days ago about
the Conflict (NY Times/Red Sox cozy relationship) being too grey area.

Anything the Globe writes has to be considered part of the Corporate Red Sox
newsletter. They have a vested interest

I actually heard about Theo's "no, thanks" via the master of fried clams
and tar-tar sauce about 6:20 pm; I then switched to John Rish discussing it
on WEEI.
The relationship between the '04 World Champs, the N.Y. Times Jr., NESN
(Globe produces pre/postgame shows), etc, all figure into this. Ironically
enough the scoop goes not to the Morrissey Blvd. folks but to
the Wingo News--er, Herald!

Lots about this on FreeRepublic, BostonSportsMedia, BostonDirtDogs, etc

Re: WEEI quoted a Boston Herald source

The "house organ" (Globe). Ironically enough weren't the Red Sox once
owned by the Globe's publisher, John (or was it William) Taylor at
one point?

Other papers have owned teams--doesn't the Chicago Tribune own the
1908 World Champions?

Well you also see conspiracy in everything. Could it be more to do with the fact that compared to his high profile Theo was making very little at the Red SOx AND going to LA he will have more ocntrol?. That makes sense to me.
