WEEI to remain home of the Red Sox

I wonder if there were any other stations interested. Sports Hub (WBZ-FM) can't own Red Sox rights without dumping at least one of its other teams. I doubt WBZ(AM) was interested, and even if it was, it's stuck on the dying AM band, which the Sox probably wanted to get away from to begin with. And it's hard to imagine the music FMs wanting to carry baseball play-by-play over 175 days a year (counting spring training and possible postseason games).

"From spring training to game 7..."--WEEI promo urging advertisers to buy time on Red Sox radio.
So late Feb to late Oct, if playoff rounds happen--the idea is a great buy reaching a good audience.

WBOQ used to carry Sox games but dropped them--a music FM, but each game is a long time committment from pregame to postgame. They do carry the Pats and maybe the C's too but it does take away a long time away from music for each game.If they feel it makes money...

93.7 stick in Peabody so Essex County fans etc can still get Sox that way.
104.9 in Topsfield--98.5 could be slightly shaky in parts of Cape Ann...so 104.9 may help, and they can sell local spots...

If anyone else was to get the Red Sox, that would be the end of WEEI-FM. Either it would go full ESPN Radio, a blend of ESPN and FOX (maybe holding onto Hill and the afternoon show), or Audacy would have to find another format. God knows what that would be, as I don't know of any other format holes in Boston that can be considered viable. What I want hasn't been considered viable at this time in Boston.
