I'm almost tempted to post this in the Atlanta section as well, but I have a feeling that this would be foreign to them. Too bad they missed out on a lot of music due to lack of stations and certain formats. They seriously needed some LA, or even Phoenix or Miami dj's to introduce them to this sound. No point in reminiscing now, but I can't help but to wonder what it would've been like if there was a station in Atlanta to introduce this entire era of music to them?

It would be interesting to swap the LA and Atlanta station markets and see how people would react and how things would unfold.

Imagine... Power 106 in Atlanta 1995-present while keeping it's original sound? Hmmmm.... Would it have worked?

Re: Well, At Least People in LA Will Be Familiar With The Bay Area Sound...

Just checked... And KSWD doesn't even nearly fit the format those songs would've been played on.

The stations that did play many of these songs during mix shows were

Power 106
99.1 KGGI
102.7 KIIS fm
B100.3
Groove Radio 103.1
Q104.7 which was difficult to pick up in Orange county
Jammin Z90 for a brief period of time in 2000 or so,

And not to forget the best WiLD 94.9 that I never got to actually hear live on the radio, but have heard about from many people and on the net.

Those were the good ol' days...

WILD 106.1 doesn't stream, so I have no idea what they are up to, and I'm not even sure if this Throwback 93.9 I heard about is really there or how long it's been there or if they are even still there.

Now that I think of it, Hip hop really did disrupt many of the old ways of radio and formatting, but now I'm glad to see we're going back to a time where people are bringing back the creativity of experimenting with different sounds once again, and variety is coming back to top 40 and rhythmic radio - as a matter of fact, more people are turning towards this direction in formats these days.

Just FYI- KSWD's is "100.3 The Sound" .. That's what I meant, that's all brother

I don't think I have heard any of these songs on the Sound. In fact, I don't think I've heard any of these songs period.
