Those are excellent points, and much of what you say does apply in the world of commercial radio.
KEOM however, is a non-commercial operation. Underwriting and pledge drives are not a part of the stations' funding. It is basically funded with taxpayer money and leased tower space funding. Since I am a Mesquite resident, my tax money helps support the budget. So if one or two listeners complain that KEOM should remove damn and hell from the playlist, then I have the right to be offended and bring forth my own complaints.
The comparison between what private companies and public schools do is essentially apples to oranges, as PLEX mentioned.
As for the good book references, this is simply to show the word is common, even if the meaning isn’t. I mean come on, banning songs with references to a place called Hell? I guess we should ban songs about Heaven. Now before you laugh at that comment and dismiss it, keep this in mind. Kids today are giving curse meanings to completely innocent words, such as “You’re such a pig!” “Go blow your shoe” and so on.
I guess this means I am a jackass for sharing my viewpoint. He haw, he haw….
