Well louisville now has a commercial alternative rock station to listen to alt 105.1

We will see how this goes. Hopefully alpha media will invest money in it n not just ad water n hope for the best. Same format ad when lrs flipped frequencies to 105.1 as alternative then lrs 105 went very active rock over the years. I swear this frequency has had so many different formats.

Hot ac when it signed on in feb of 93 then christian for serveral years till feb of 2000 it became lrs then in 2009 talk radio then in 2012 light rock then 2015 old school hip hop now back to alternative.

You forgot about the short lived Classic Hits format in 2014 (That's where the WGHL call letters come from) I'm glad to finally see a change for 105.1.I agree that Alpha should invest in the format if they want it to last.
Also wanted to note the change at WMJM 101.3. According to RadioInsight "WMJM has shifted its playlist in a throwback direction focused mainly on Hip-Hop and some R&B from the 1990s and early 2000s" Listened tonight and they sound pretty good.

I'm glad to see this change. It will be interesting to see what happens next month. LRS Fest is back this year on 10/6 with local/regional bands, but they tease that LRS radio will return. You can find them on social media or at lrs102.com. I hope it happens, but can't see it replacing Jack FM.

I didn't even notice this until today, 105.1 has been completely off of my radar for years. This isn't quite like WLRS or The Fox, but I really like this playlist even more. I did notice that 101.3 had changed their playlist slightly in recent days, and it seemed pretty good too. Seems like a win-win for both stations, but I can't help but to wonder how 105.1 is going to find an audience. I didn't have any clue to go there until I did so today by accident and I actually follow this stuff.

Oh and it seems that Brooke and Jubal just won't die already. They're determined to have that show on here no matter what! Despite changing formats, it's still there every morning, and let's not forget the one week it aired on The Max before all of that.

That's very intersting. The WLRS call letters are on 1570 AM (a spanish station) and the station is owned by New Albany Broadcasting. Here's the intersting part.WLRS 1570 simulcasts on a translator at 101.9 FM. So I could see a return of "LRS102"

Somebody on the Facebook page for 105.1 suggested they call it WLRS... their response was:

"LOL well, we tried to get them back, but the current owner of the call letters isn't playing nice. We'll keep trying!"

I like the station but i am surprised alpha media went all in on a alternative rock station. Considering it is louisville i thought they would do better with a alt/active hybrid but i like this better. I do wonder if it will do better then old school hip hop? They were gettin a 1.7 or so. It seems that station hasnt done well since march of 05 when it got 4 shares. I hope they invest in the station.

Meanwhile in Lexington, still nobody dares to give the alternative format a try. And no, I don't consider 97.7 an "alternative" station, even though they like to claim they are. They are merely a clone of 103.3, an active rocker. Sigh...

I just heard My Morning Jacket on 105.1, that’s definitely something a little different for something that isn’t WFPK. But if that’s the audience they’re going for, they’re going to have a hard time getting the “I don’t listen to commercial radio” elitists who wouldn’t even be willing to give them a fair chance.

While I like the idea behind the station, I'm disappointed by the playlist. They repeat some songs every two hours. Looking at the list from Friday, 9/14, they played Africa by Weezer 10 (TEN) times. They equally repeat Say Amen (Saturday Night) by Panic at the Disco, as well as a few others. With such a broad range of music on the station, this seems ridiculous to me.

You're hearing Africa by Weezer in heavy rotation because it is #3 on the charts. It's new..... It's just like a Top 40 format... Songs in the top 10 are on a two hour rotation.

I really enjoy the format but it seems whatever they put on this signal gets the same numbers. Classic hip hop did a bit better. The only time I saw 105.1 getting traction was in March of 2005. It was getting a four share. Now I think the station is so much better now than it was then but they had a consistent lineup. Time will tell how long alt 105.1 stays alt 105.1?
