West Virginia meteorologist accused of shoving news anchor, fracturing her skull

HUNTINGTON — A WSAZ television meteorologist charged with misdemeanor battery of a co-worker in Charleston is scheduled to appear in Kanawha County Magistrate Court on Friday, Sept. 21, according to court documents.

Chelsea Ambriz, 26, a Huntington resident who works as an on-air forecaster for WSAZ, was charged in relation to an altercation with Erica Bivens on Sunday, Aug. 26, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Bivens, who anchors the news channel's First Look at 4 and 10 o'clock News on the Tri-State CW, reportedly suffered a ruptured eardrum and skull fracture when Ambriz allegedly shoved her down, according to the complaint.

More information has been released about the alleged barroom brawl.

According to a narrative written by Charleston Police officer Adam Douglas, he was dispatched to Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) for a complaint of battery that had occurred in the 200 block of Leon Sullivan Way at a bar called "Broadway."

In the report, the officer stated that Bivens said she and her husband had been out for the Girl's Night Out celebration that was held at the Charleston Civic Center earlier that night and then decided to go out for more drinks afterward at the Broadway bar.
