Westwood One adds new 24/7 Good Time Oldies format to replace Scott Shannon's TOC

The degeneration of America into the cesspool of multiculturalism and bilingualism is real, but that doesn't make it something to celebrate.

This comment is stepping over the line. Avid Listener you are certainly allowed to have, and express your personal opinions. However, I encourage you to find a more pleasant way about it. If the comments degenerate further, they will be deleted and you may be put on a temporary ban. Stay above board with your comments please.

The USA is a diverse Country: various nationalities, languages, cultures, faiths, experiences... all varied and that is what really makes it so great a nation. Imagine being in another Country where diversity was not accepted, i.e. you had to speak a specific language, eat certain foods, worship a certain way, wear certain clothes, etc. Be glad we are still somewhat free to choose as we please.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding that we want to be a welcoming place for diverse opinions. That means getting along with everyone. (I didn't say agree with everyone, I said get along with...)

Carry on...

Maybe not, but he is the Dean of this board and you can take whatever he posts as facts, whether you agree with them or not. And since you seem to rarely agree with the resident expert with decades of experience, what does that tell you? I know what it tells me.

ok, I appreciate the accolades more than you can immagine... but... I do make mistakes. One of the best things about the board is having a mistaken piece of information that one takes as fact questioned or disproved. We all benefit from this. Radio is full of myths and ghosts and a Freddie Krueger or two and sometimes we hear something so many times that we actually believe it.

Sort of like saying "more music" over and over when you really are running 18 minutes of spots!

My point was to illustrate the FCC's inquiry about doing emergency notifications in English and Spanish (and I cited a very good blog as source). The action reflects the reality of America.

You are entitled to your own views of cultural, linguistic and even religious diversity, but the fact that that very diversity is now considered mainstream indicates how brilliant the drafters of the Constitution were in crafting a document that is able to be as relevant today as it was well over 200 years ago. I think they would be very pleased at how truly visionary they really were.

26,384 posts makes one a Dean? David is very knowledgable and he certainly has taught the others more to the aspects about radio and that's fine. We appreciate it greatly. But on some aspects (and you know what they are...they have been debated from here to the moon) some of us disagree on and that's what this whole board is about.

No one is perfect, nor I, nor you and nor David. We are all good at what we know and have learned over time, even if it has to do with radio....and the in's and out's of it. There is no wrong answer.

Every one on these board has great ideas, some more than others....We're all Deans at what we do. We all have our own specialties and ideas.

"Rah rah rah! Go David! Go David" I previously said that you are nothing more than a cheerleader for David, and damn if you didn't just go ahead and prove it again right here. Your next original thought will be your first.

Classic Hits is a RADIO FORMAT!!!! It's grouped under FORMATS.

Classic hits is indeed a radio format, but it's also the MUSIC in that format, that classic hits radio plays, so therefore, MUSIC can be discussed here as well. It becomes a music board as well, under the classic hits format board.

But in the context of radio. It's not supposed to be a fan board. Too often these discussions get bogged down on the music, not radio.

Indeed! The format this board is devoted to is the music that the format is made from. To not discuss the music in a board about a music format on the radio would be like not being allowed to mention bricks on the "brick houses" board on ArchitectureDiscussions.com.
