Romper Room Part Two

In reading the thread about what annoys folks about TV these days, I thought, I'd present, courtesy of a friend, The audio of a complete Romper Room half hour from WEWS-TV 5 in Cleveland Friday, May 24, 1963.. along with appropriate slides..What I see most from this era..

While the show is well-paced, it seems leisurely paced at the same time.."Miss Barbara" Plummer does a lot with the half hour she is given..Of course, Bert and Nancy Claster have a lot to do with the structure of Romper Room anyway..

First, she notes that one of the children is having a birthday today, then there are games of "Mulberry Bush" and "Pop Goes the Weasel" that cover most of the first 15 minutes..

Then in the last 15 minutes..The Children learn all about cows,"Travel" to learn about the country of Holland, play "Simon Says" then a live commercial read by Miss Plummer all about "Kolonel Keds"" Shoes..after saying grace, the Children enjoy refreshments as they listen to Miss Plummer read "Tuggy The Tugboat" to the Children..Then The Magic Mirror..after Miss Barbara says goodbye..announcer Ron Penfound closes the show..

Mr. Penfound was very busy that day, hosting Capt. Penny,(50 minutes) Comedy Clubhouse (1 hour) also duties as staff announcer and probably 2 weather forecasts..
