WFAA gets local rights to 10 Dallas Mavericks games that was slated for Bally Sports Southwest on top of 3 NBA on ABC games.

WFAA, has announced that they are picking up the rights to 10 Dallas Mavericks game on top of the Mavs games they already had local rights to via their ABC affiliation for the games that ESPN on ABC will be airing, the 10 games were originally slated for Bally's Sports Southwest but now will air on WFAA, meaning those who don't have Bally Sports (via provider that dropped them permanently like Dish or people who do have them on their provider but don't have the package it's on) can finally see Mavs basketball via local TV on antenna or cable providers, this in time after TEGNA settled a dispute with DirecTV a few weeks ago. this deal came out of right field as many possibly expected CBS (11) Texas aka KTVT and KTXA 21 to get the rights.

The release from WFAA, including which games will air on WFAA:
WFAA to locally broadcast 10 of the Dallas Mavericks’ remaining 2023-2024 NBA regular season games

so expect lots of preemptions of ABC programming to air on on the 8.2 substation or the programming forced to be internet exclusive via ABC's website and Hulu, also wouldn't be surprised if WFAA works out a deal with either KDAF or KTXD to air ABC Programming on one of those channels with the network's and the channel's respected owner's approval.

Three dates, March 9 and 13, April 10 will be the most interesting: up against the national ESPN on ABC games.
Actually only March 9th as next week, Phoenix/Brooklyn will be the last reg. season Wednesday game on ABC. This Wednesday package appears to be just a few weeks, I'm sure because of the Hollywood strikes last year, so this fills the programming void which would otherwise have been reruns.

The Mavericks just struck a deal with KSTR 49 to simulcast these same games in Spanish. It's a return to KSTR for the Mavericks. They were on KSTR a long time ago when Jim Durham and Bob Ortegal were the broadcasters.
