How come those stations go up to 100 miles in the summer, and the stations with similar power but more inland don't go as far?

its called tropospheric enhancement, which is almost ever-present down the shore during the summertime, but does not always make it inland.

how bout WCHR-FM and WBBO, they get out there real good too. WCHR goes about 60 miles inland, and so does WBBO (which is exceptional for a class a).

Big tropo here at the Shore this past weekend. Listened to 'Cool 102' 101.9 WCIB Falmouth, MA from my house in Bayville all the way to Long Beach Island. Down side of the tropo is that it usually is accompanied with miserable humidity. Ah, the price of being a radio geek!

Frequently, in Chester County, I have been able to pick up WCZT, WILW, WAIV, 99.3, WEZW and on occasion Q107, when its not getting slammed by Mix 106.7 out of Harrisburg.

96.9 WFPG I think is a little too powerful in the Summer. I hear crystal Clear in WEST ORANGE Exit 145!!! on the GSP and then about 10 Miles west on I-280! (Top of the HUGE Hill) It even bled through to Hot97 at times.
