WFXH (Rock 106.1) PD Dustin "Fletcher" Matthews Headed To WFNX/Boston

http://www.radioandrecords.com/RRWebSite/Search.aspx?search=WFNX

It's the first, second, and third link on the page.

While I had a few heated email exchanges with him re: the station's playlist, he's still a nice guy and I wish him good luck in Beantown. He'll be co-hosting The Sandbox, WFNX's new morning show along with two guys he worked with at WDYL in Richmond, Virginia. The show debuts on WFNX July 23rd.

Does anyone have any inside scoop as to whether or not a replacement's been named or is Susan Groves still looking? In any case, I'd like to see whoever takes the helm inject the station's playlist with alot more diversity.

That's a bummer. Y-101 in Richmond's a decent station and Fletcher, Special Ed, Keith Dakin, and Mike Murphy were all instrumental in making that station rock. The larger active rock station blew them out (and still continues to dominate in Richmond over Y-101).

And I don't know. Fletcher did a pretty good job at the helm of Rock 106-1. I mean, he only had about a year down here and I think he did the one important thing: beat I-95.

But yeah, I'd like to see a more diverse station...considering the fact I-95 has the album rock front covered. But with decent ratings, why fix what ain't broke?

Radio-X

I got two words also...."Hell yeah".

I'd love to hear Phil back on the radio here but, per my last discussion with him, he's far too happy with his current gig to jump back into radioland. Still, I'd love to hear "JustPhil" back on the Savannah airwaves.

sir, don't be shocked.......

No...it would be shocking! NO WAY could they pay me enough to do it. Or, would they even ask me if I was interested. $40,000 a year, no thanks. Radio is dying a slow painful death. It's funny though, no one is taking responsibilty for killing it. No companies admitting they did the wrong things. No consultants admitting they did the wrong things. No programmers...well they admit it, but fought against it. Most were, and are, still just trying to keep their jobs. I miss radio, but will NEVER do it again unless in some type of ownership situation. I'm amazed anyone else still does. It took awhile for the bug to get out but, I'm glad it did.
