WGBX-HD on air as of today (6/19)

Well, I turned on my TV in my house that has an antenna hooked up to it, and I seem to be getting something new. WGBX-HD channel 44.5 is finally on the air! But now the question is... when will cable systems start picking it up??

How do they get an HD picture with five subchannels? I thought bandwidth would be an issue. And when is DirecTV going to get WGBH, channel 2 in HD??? Let alone WGBX...

It actually looks like something is up right now with WGBX on Comcast. If you tune into channel 16, where WGBX 44 (SD) is supposed to be, it's actually the digital subchannel 'GBH World (44.2).

It is now on Comcast on channel 818. But it seems like it's only in SD, so it must be 44.1. I have another TV in my house that's a direct cable, and it is showing up on 44.1, and not 44.5. I just spoke with someone at WGBH and they said that starting 7/15, the WGBX HD will move from 44.5 to 44.1.

Well, as of now, it's still 44.1-SD, 44.5-HD. ::)

The move happened sometime last night/early this morning——as of 7am, 44.5 is gone and 44.1 is "WGBX-HD".

I wonder if WGBX HD 44.5 (RF 43) was really on a WGBH (2.x) subchannel (RF 19) but with the PSIP set for 44.5 until they could modify 44.1 to handle HD. I miss that unusual test pattern they ran on "44.5". It's rather hard to put 5 virtual channels onto one DTV carrier without making the video deteriorate. Surprisingly. all WGBX subs looked really good. But...., just I wonder ::) if WGBH was actually subbing space for "44.5". Any thoughts?

44.5 was on RF 43.
