WGMR for sale, and the (lowball) offers are in!

No disrespect, but this is one of the oddest threads ever to appear on these boards. Most often the buying and selling of radio stations is kept real quiet and only the people swapping the money know this kind of detail. Did the family really want all of this to be kicked around on Radio-Info? Why? To drive up the price? That's probably not going to happen unless the thing all of a sudden starts spouting cash, ya think?

That didn't stop you from jumping right into the conversation.

Well I think it is funny to watch the comments fly...FYI all there are only certain people who know what is really going on and the rest of you are just looking in...no disrespect but this is some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen

I know what you mean, but it's not the first time with this company. When they were selling WKMC, I was hearing things for months...maybe about 6 months? I can't remember anymore. It was like play-by-play. I'd hear that there was a sale in the works...then I'd hear it fell through...then I'd hear it was happening again. You can imagine how much excitement that created for me.

It's not like they have a bunch of shareholders. It's not going to hurt anything if word gets out...it might even help; although, I don't think it will do much right now.

LOL. Yeah, you're right. Well, it IS real interesting. There's no doubt about that. Just unusual, that's all.

But as ameyer says, we're all just on the outside looking in. I suppose it will be interesting to see if anything happens or not, but if we're not involved we shouldn't lose any sleep over it.

The best thing would be to call Cary himself. Cary was always easy to talk to. I may call him and get the story-behind-the-story. Of course this is just another one many reasons that I'm known as a "broadcasting genuis" in some circles.

Let me know how you make out with that...wonder which story you will get...hahahahaha...the plot thickens my friends ;D

Oh and if we are going to have discussions please use proper grammar

Should have read

Oh I fixed the spelling mistake too...hahahahaha...just messing with you

Does it really matter? The last thing I want to be worried about is having to make sure I don't leave out or misspell any words. I'm lucky that I have time to post. I don't want to take the time to proofread.

mock...don't get your boxers in a bunch...it was a joke...geesh

Let the speculation begin...Forever sold 98.7 to 2510 this morning for 1.2 Million dollars

Same owners as before, under different corporate name as usual.

Word on the street is that Forever has just purchased WGMR. Their sales staff will be informed of this at 4PM today. Can anyone confirm?

I predict more simulcasts of Froggy or Hot.

According to one of the files on the FCC website...that must have been scanned in and I can barley read it....

From a document dated March 13...so this has been going on for a while.
$1,100,000 now
$1,400,000 in payments of $100,000 on the first and second ann. then 8 additional payments during the 10 year non-compete. So it looks like it will be a time before Cary gets all his money. Man, is that hard to read...someone needs a new scanner.

I guess he thought he could get more with a sale now rather than waiting for the value of a stick to decrease even more. I can understand where Cary is coming from and would agree that it was a good idea to get out now.

That deal is total crap. Why accept a lousy deal like that?

Maybe he wanted to sell and now one else was willing to pay anywhere near that amount?? But I'm just an outsider, trying to guess.

I wonder what Denny Pompa is thinking. I know that he has money but not that kind of money. I also know that he has a silent partner.

Assuming the cheque doesn't bounce, Cary already has three or four times what the thing's worth. If the debtor declares Chaper 7 or even Chapter 11 a year or two from now, he'll still have his money. In the meantime, Forever adds another frequency to its frog pond and its main rivals, First Media and Magnum have nothing extra to worry about. It's only another Forever spur under the saddle, and both the clients and the audience are irrelevant.

It's not like Clear Channel or Citadel looked at State College and said "oh, my, let's get in there and spoil the locals' fun." It's just Forever being Forever. No worries. We'll buy the "little" guys, Comcast and the CDT, and Forever can remain forever in debt, in court or in limbo.
