This morning from 12am on I have been hearing a ton of songs The Fox plays sound More like a classic Rock station then classic hits/classic top 40.

Yes.com Station log for today: http://www.yes.com/log/?station=WGRR&day=0&hour=0

I took a peek at the yes.com playlist display... That was a great hour of music – and it was during the dead of night! There was a nice balance of era, genre, and tempo.

I was in Loveland last weekend for a family reunion - WGRR was the station of choice by the host of the event. It was “pumped” from a large boom-box and everyone seemed to love it – not one “change the station” request – even from the yutes! My sister is in her mid-40s... BOTH she and her 5th/3rd V.P. husband are easily P-1 ‘GRR listeners... Sis ‘n hubby have even commented to me about how much they enjoy the fresher-version of 103.5.

So, I guess if you need an early-60s fix [and more than “Shout” in your music hour] – there’s WDJO... They’re an excellent OLDIES station too... Unlike MANY large markets, Cincy has it BOTH WAYS 8)

I think they haven't sounded this good in a long time. Much better than what the Fox sounds like.

I don't think the weekend talent adds up to much, though. It sounds like they open WGRR up to the broadcast school interns on weekends. Music-good. Jocks-bad!

One question, will Married with Microphones update the show and the presentation? Are the "new" listeners filitering in going to like what they do in the morning, or is time to move them over to Warm 98 and bring in some new talent?

They are very talented, however if they are looking for a gig they can truly keep for the next 15 years, maybe a move is in order. Got to grow older with the demo, and the WGRR demo just dropped by ten years with the changes they have made.

I agree with the take on the wekend talent...like they all came from Falmouth, KY.

So what would y'all do to make the weekend air staff better? Typical of these boards, it's all negative energy with no specifics.

I agree WyllyWylly... what should the weekend Jocks do??? A weekend Jock is there to keep the station on the air, read the liners, and be a friendly voice. Don't expect a weekend jock to do some bits on the radio... that will get them off a weekend shift pretty quickly. Have a friendly and clear voice. Enjoy the big money you bring in on the weekends too!!! What does Cincy pay part timers for weekend shifts?

Listen to Q105 from Tampa http://cbsplayer.streamtheworld.com/index.php?CALLSIGN=WRBQFM This is how WGRR should sound but with the 60's and 70's music That WGRR plays The dont play ever song WGRR plays from the 60's and 70's. What I am saying is WGRR should add alot more 80's music like CBS did with this station. Dont get me wrong I love WGRR its my fav local station but it would get better rationings for people from my generation if they added in more 80's music. I am 28. Going to be 29 in 2 months. Tonight I have been listening to the live stream of q105 and I love it even more then my usauall WGRR because of the 80's music. I usally just listen to q105 when I am inTampa visiting my dad. I decided tonight to listen to it and it sounded great alot better since the last time I listened to it when I was in Tampa back in April.

Do any of you posters work in radio in Cincy? What does Cincy Radio Station's pay weekend part-timers? Does Clear Channel pay better than Cumulus??? Radio One??? Bonneville??? Cox??? Pillar of Fire???

I disagree that "weekend jocks shouldn't do bits on the radio, etc". If the weekend jock has the talent then the jock should have personality as long as it fits the station. Saying a weekend jock can't have personality is like saying a lead off hitter can't hit home runs, it all depends on the player. Josh Hamilton and Norris Hopper are both leadoff hitters but approach their job completely differently.

Let me re-phrase this.... 80% of the weekend jocks should not do bits during their shift. Unless you have over 3 or 4 years of radio experience... you should just read the liners and be a friendly voice. You can still have a personality... not sure where I said you can't have a personality. The job of the weekend part-timer is to keep the station sounding like it does Monday thru Friday.
