WGTN 1400 AM & 107.5 FM Georgetown is back to country music

The station just got "countrified", again... as "Countrified 107.5 Georgetown's Country Station." It's a classic country station, and I already know it won't last long.

if the market needed it, then someone would be doing it long term and making money with it... if they thought it would make money.

They have a co-owned station WLMC and they are doing oldies. These stations were for sale a few years ago but apparently they didn't get sold. Still under same ownership for quite a few years now. WLMC does stream I don't know why WGTN isn't streaming.

I just don't believe all the old people who want music want beach music. There is classic country, but for years Myrtle Beach has Sinatra and Nat King Cole, even if it was more Michael Buble and Rod Stewart.

I doubt every old person wants beach music either but there is a culture here that locals and visitors are immersed in and it is a sellable format. Most stations in places like this make the bulk of their billing from the local versus the tourist and this regional format has universal appeal beyond just the age group that grew up listening to Beach Music.

this is a business.. and if someone felt they could make money on it, theyd be doing it already. Standards is very much an older sleepier format.
