WGWD 93.3 Quincy Florida been SOLD by Magic Broadcasting of Panama City?

In late December Magic Broadcasting II acquired its purchase of Classic Country 93.3 WGWD Gretna/Tallahassee, FL for $1.2 Million.

I did not know that WGWD FM 93.3 has been sold or a buyer around December 2011 This is posted of today's 2/18/12 Radio Insight

I thought an individual had purchased WGWD. There was a discussion on the Georgia board about this as the station was being referred to as a SW Georgia signal instead of a Tallahassee signal. It'll be sad if WGWD gets tangled up in the Panama City/Dothan Magic Mess.

Louis,

Yes, it has been sold, pending FCC approval. I've been told that the FCC approved the transfer
on Friday.

I predict that there's going to be some unhappy folks. WGWD really is a one-of-a-kind station.

Don and Elke McCoy of Panama City are the buyers. De-Col, Inc., (Monte Bitner) is the seller.

Personally, I hate to see the format change. 93.3 has been the only terrestrial station left that I liked enough to listen to on a somewhat regular basis.

Yes I know Alan there will be alot of unhappy folks for WGWD-FM. I wonder what will happen between WGWD and (Clear Channel's WFLA-100.7 FM) WFLA 100.7 still does do talk but mixed of more Florida State basketball and baseball games on the radio. Sounds like WGWD/WYOO bring back the old school of Talk Radio 106.1FM when 106.1 flip to Oldies.

WGWD was for sale for several years, initially listed at $3 milliion. The price was reduced to $2.5 million sometime ago. At $1.2 million, the buyer got a real deal in securing a class C3 Tallahassee commercial FM signal.
