WHAS in El Cajon (E of San Diego), CA 2013-01-25 on PL-398mp+SAT

Hi all,

So I was listening to Dave Ramsey on 840 KXNT North Las Vegas on the evening of January 25th as I usually do, and suddenly heard "Eighty-Four W-H-A-S" in the background. I didn't have the camera running at the time, but I had noticed the signal in the background of KXNT had been there for a while.

So I quickly set up the camera & recorded several segments over the next few hours. I have just now had time to extract short clips with IDs, so here's the video ...

http://youtu.be/fbM6qSyEZbU

There are WHAS mentions at 0:02, 1:32, a couple within a few seconds at 2:11, and a KXNT TOH ID at 0:19.

Peak signal indicated on the PL-398mp (aided by the SAT) from KXNT is 78 dBµ at 0:53. You can probably hear how strong KXNT's signal is here, too - making WHAS tough to hear. ;)

This set a new record for domestic DX to the east of me, previously held by 720 WGN and 780 WBBM, both approximately 1700 miles from me. Both were heard with a Panasonic RQ-SW20 (filter about as wide as a stock Sony SRF-M37W) and SAT several years ago. WBBM was pulled out from under KKOH Reno and local 760 KFMB splash, and WGN was bagged one Monday morning when KDWN Las Vegas was off the air.

My all-time DX record still stands at 8344.5 miles, held by 1575 VOA in Thailand. Video at http://youtu.be/xPODlMA1_Q4 of that reception in the early morning on 2012-09-15 a little before sunrise.
My current DX record under a strong signal / local's "passband" (in this case running IBOC) is 5585 miles, held by 594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan, out from under 5 kW 600 KOGO San Diego, CA, 7.7 miles W/SW of me. Audio clip at http://www.mediafire.com/?4dqx65cf85glo83 (skip ahead a minute) from 2010-11-06 early morning.
