What a big waste of time it was on WWE's RAW

Instead of a packed house, all I see was an empty arena, and Mr. McMahon-who announced the sad tragic news of Chris Benoit's Family who died in their home outside Atlanta. I think it was a murder/suicide scenario. Instead of the usual live episode of "RAW", the show paid tribute to The Wolverine-aka The Canadian Crippler, instead. USA Network would've cut to a "Law & Order" Marathon with "SVU" & "Criminal Intent".

I'm sorry, but how is replacing a live show with a produced one is a "waste of time", given the situation and circumstances at hand again?? ::)
 
They had very little time to air much of anything else. Give them some credit please. If there's only one good thing about all of this (IF you can say that) is the "death" of Mr. McMahon will now be scrapped.

This is without a doubt the most awful, dumbest, post I have ever read.

Sure it's the WWE and they have made a terrible mistake

with the McMahon Angle and the half-hearted attempt to

acknowledge Sherri Martel, but they made up for it. They're human people!

I always hate it when I see a non pro wrestling fan chew the sport on

this site, now I hate even more from what I just read. No rating can wash

away clean the tragedy that has been sent to us yesterday.

I'm truly ashamed and appaled.

I think The WWE was doing the right job-by paying tribute to Benoit on the same day he died, And I believe The WWE should pay some respect to "Sensational" Sherri Martel, who in fact wasa former women's champ turned manager. Among those who were managed under Sherri: Macho Man, The Million Dollar Man, & HBK. I think Queen Sherri should've been inducted to the WWE's Hall of Fame. I was wondering if tonight's Smackdown/ECW show will go on in San Antonio tonight?

Yes they will go on as scheduled according to many wrestling news websites. I think the WWE is making a huge mistake by letting the 2 shows go on as planned tonight. Give the wrestlers and staff of the WWE time to grieve.
 
I'm not hating on wrestling, but how could anybody think the WWE did the right thing by airing a "tribute" show - complete with men giving emotional messages about how great of a man Benoit was - without knowing the true facts behind the situation?

Based on what has been released to the media starting last night, Benoit will be found to have committed double homicide before taking his own life. That's certainly not worthy of a tribute, IMHO.

The WWE should not only have simply aired a replay of like Wrestlemania 3 last night or something. But I do believe they should continue on as scheduled, as if the media reports prove true, taking time off would legitimize what Benoit did.

I think the tribute on Raw was taped or on tape delay (I don't know for sure) before the new info on his death was released late last night so I don't think you can say that about the raw airing last night. It was the right thing to do for the WWE cancel the live Raw show in Corpus Christi Texas and to honor Benoit via a tribute like this. The WWE did a great job producing the show last night.
 
This is reminiscent of when Owen Hart died. I was into wrestling at the time. If I remember correctly, he died during a Sunday night PPV, and the following night Raw went on as scheduled, complete with wrestlers peppering sentiments into their smack talk, i.e. "My thoughts and prayers to the family of Owen Hart... but tonight, Val Venis, you are going down!"
 
According to WWE's website.They (WWE) did not find out until 4 pm about his death.That gave them less than four hours to produce a 3 hour show.Comming up with a game plan to fill 3 hours plaus of programming.Searching for tapes of old matches.Probably having to wait to see if some could get aired.The WCW match comes to mind.Interviewing other stars.Co ordinating with home base what tapes to run.What are the aanouncers going to talk about.
They did an excellent job putting together a 3 hour show from scratch in less than a 4 hour window.
As for the announcers.They were live.I remember seeing the live graphic in the corner.
I was pissed when they put Johney Nitro in his place on Sunday, but I am not at this piont understanding they decided to put him in place of Benoit from what I understand litterly at the last second when he Benoit was a no show.
I hope they just drop the whole Mr. McMann death thing now and just go back to a regular Vince.
Boy, They could not have picked a worse time to go with that story line loosing 3 wrestlers in 2 weeks.
 
I think the WWE should stand on solidarity ground as all 3 divisions (RAW, ECW, SD) need to come together to reflect the memory of Chris Benoit, like they did to Eddie Guerrero. Guerrero died at a Minneapolis Hotel, prior to a WWE PPV event over at The Target Center; And the reason why Benoit did'nt show the past 2 days is pure & simple: Benoit had some personal "ISSUES"-last Sunday, he murdered his wife & son-before he turned his gun on him. I believe the sceneario was The Phil Hartman-It was named after SNL funny guy and the star of "News Radio" .
 
Owen tragically died the night before RAW, giving them time to prepare. Eddie was found dead in the morning, also giving them time. On both those nights, Vince inquired to see which wrestlers were willing to wrestle. If you couldn't, you didn't have to.

Vince probably decided 4 hours was not enough time for people to lace up the boots. And would it be far fetched to say Vince might have known this was something fishy.

You can even tell from the WWE website, slowly but surely, this wasn't just an accidental death. They removed all their tribute videos, merchandise, even superstar testimonials to Benoit.

What the WWE should do IMO, is what they are doing tonight, and go on with the shows. I don't think there are planned storylines. There will just be regular wrestling. It would not even surprise me if Benoit is completely ignored from this point forward on WWE television.

1) Sherri got what most people got when they die. A picture. Most of the time theres something more if the wrestler in under contract with the company at the current time.

2) She was inducted already, either this year or last year. I remember reading she was really messed up at the ceremony.

Phil Hartman was killed by his wife or girlfriend, then she killed herself which I believe is entirely different than the Benoit situation. We get it you had a problem with the attention given to Chris Benoit as it is evident in the very first post of the thread. But before trying to become "Mr. Funny Guy" with the Hartman scenario, it might help to get facts straight before using it. And what gun did Chris Benoit use? USA Network does not get such stellar ratings from the Law and Order shows, that's why they allow for WWE to go three hours some weeks. And besides, why have Law and Order marathons when your highest rated program has airtime scheduled? USA Network does not care if Vince and company decide to do a Tuesday Night Titans themed show during that time slot, as long as it gets ratings.
 
To further clarify, Benoit did not use a gun on himself or his family. He hung himself with a pulley strap on his excercise equipment in a downstairs room.
 
...and on ECW, a somewhat irritated Vince McMahon apologized for the tribute show. Benoits name would not be mentioned again on the show.....Now, I happened to check ESPNews before 11 and read the murder-suicide reference. I'm not going to pile on here because events came so fast and furious...

Been a few tough weeks for VKM...first his "death"..then Sherri Martel...now .another deceased wrestler...argueably with at least another five years of excellence..and they lose one of the only true wrestlers in the business. ...not to mention, on a night where every big name star, and most of the undercard talent was scheduled to appear in one arena for a three hour show....

Its almost as if God leaned over to Vince last week and said

"You know, you've mocked me for years...youve had every concievable debaucherous act on your show...and even some I didnt know of....
I could live with the Undertaker thing, thats more cartoon than real...but now "your death"..I dropped a hint for you to pull out of it......But I'm sorry I didn't get your attention with Sensational Sherri...no, you kept it up.....You think you know how to portray death as tragedy? ..as Charlie Daniels once said.."Let me show you how its done..."

At the time they did the tribute, that information was not known. If it was a definite that this is how they died, the tribute would not have happened, but the death would have been acknowledged.
