WHAT ABOUT FRENCH COVERAGE OF THE 2012 LONDON GAMES?

I've got a question: will CPAC transmit French coverage of the Bell/Rogers Olympic broadcasts or will Radio-Canada simulcast the coverage this time out?

Surely Radio-Canada should be allowed to broadcast the coverage outside Quebec(and simulcast it with V inside Quebec) in order to reach the entire Francophone market.

But V and RDS are not readily available outside Quebec. (Although they are available on digital cable and satellite.)

That's true. V is a local for Ottawa and eastern Ontario. Both over the air and on regular cable. RDS is available on expanded basic in Ottawa and of course most digital packages.

I believe V is available readily throughout New Brunswick, by way of CFTF Riviere-du-Loup. Not sure about RDS.

HOW ABOUT THE REST OF CANADA? WILL THE FRANCOPHONE POPULATION COMPLAIN TO CTRC THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE FRENCH SERVICE FOR THE OLYMPIC GAMES OUTSIDE OF QUEBEC?

Way back in the 80's the CRTC forced all cable companies to carry a specific french channel during the Olympics.
I guess with the internet being an option today, they expect people to resort to that instead for their french coverage.

Though it depends on how tight NBC has control over internet coverage for this Olympics, which one year, they had WORLDWIDE rights to internet streaming, forcing the CBC and Radio-Canada to drop its radio feeds from streaming during the Olympics. For the London games, there are reports that Rogers has closed the feeds for (at least) their news and sports radio stations, as they are a partner for the London games.
