What AM/FM/TV do you hear midday beyond 60 miles at your location?

Hi all...

Like the topic says, what broadcast stations are you able to hear at around midday that are beyond 60 miles from your location?
For FM and TV, don't include e-skip or tropo, unless it's a near-constant occurrence (like along the Santa Barbara to San Diego path in Southern California, for example). For all bands, you may include stations that are only audible when a local is off the air. Also, you don't have to include all the suggested bands. Due to the ionosphere, I'm not including shortwave in this topic. (If someone is able to receive any SW stations beyond 60 miles on groundwave, though, go ahead and post it.)

I'll start... with my AM list first, then FM. (I don't have a TV, so I won't be including that.)

Now, what are your regulars beyond 60 miles? I have a lot in my list - maybe I should have set it at beyond 100 miles. I set it at 60, though, because some of you live in areas where the ground conductivity (for AM) and terrain (for FM) isn't as favorable as it is here in Southern California.

I'm more like about 15-18 miles inland or so, but also not as close to their adjacent Mexican locals (690 & 800), and some other local signals.  I'm not totally away from the local QRM, though, as 600, 760, 910, 1130, 1170 and 1360 are all within 10 miles of me, with 1130 being the closest at a little over 6 miles.  They do require an external tuned antenna and extremely careful nulling/positioning, though, and even then are VERY weak at best (midwinter often does help, though). I haven't tried for them from closer to the ocean, but I suspect that the local Mexicans being stronger there would make it difficult.

I've received KGO & KNBR near the ocean in Laguna Beach, but I'm impressed with your reception of those.

I'm about 30 miles due north of Chicago and I get most of the stations Cyberdad gets. The differences are I have a bigger problem with WJR which gets splatter from a fairly strong WNDZ, Also, WLW still comes in listenable here in the day.

From Vermilion, OH I can pick up the following:

88.7 Windsor, ON
91.3 WGTE/Toledo
93.9 CIDR/Windsor
99.9 WKKO/Toledo
101.5 WRVF/Toledo
I could list WIOT 104.7 Toledo except that it usually gets stomped out by WCLV 104.9 IBOC
Detroit FMs can be heard with the slightest bit of tropo/cross lake enhancement. When the band is closed they fade in and out.

540 Windsor
580 CKWW/Windsor
610 WTVN/Columbus
720 WGN/Chicago (faintly)
740 CFZM/Toronto
760 WJR/Detroit
780 WBBM/Chicago (faintly)

880 WRFD/Columbus
890 WLS/Chicago (faintly)
950 WWJ/Detroit
970 WFUN/Ashtabula

gar.

I am surprised WFLF is a weak signal.

To hijack things a bit, I remember taking my daughters down to Sarasota several times in the mid 70's and listening to the then WGTO/540 on the beach. The signal boomed.

To my dismay, the last time we went down, WGTO had switched to a country format.

That always has been interesting to me about Florida.
How can a state nearly completely surrounded by water have such poor ground conductivity?

From Northbridge MA-
AM-WTIC 1080 50 kw 65 mi- consistent fair quality signal
The NYC AM's on 660, 710 880, 1130-all 50k at 140 mi just about same as WTIC-fair quality but quite listenable. 710 is the weakest. 660- the Fan is the best of the 4.
FM-don't listen to this one but I get a 101.9 from Cape Cod about 70 mi away. Used to get WHOM at 120 mi or so before the translator for WTAG Worcester took that away. A hill to the west blocks the Hartford FM's at 65 mi or so.
WGIR Manchester NH 101.1 comes in well but is a tad under 60 mi.
And that's all folks...

What's been interesting to me toward the other end of the "scale"....  look at the ground conductivity in Arizona.  Who would have expected it to be that good knowing that it's mostly desert there?

And as for a state being surrounded by water having poor conductivity, I hear Hawaii is even worse than Florida.

That always has been interesting to me about Florida.
How can a state nearly completely surrounded by water have such poor ground conductivity?

The northern part of the state...including the panhandle...is basically an extension of the rest of the southern U.S. ...which, for the most part, has lousy ground conductivity. The central part of the peninsula is basically sand, so things there are just as bad, if not worse. Southern third of the state is basically swampland with good ground conductivity. Depending on their directional patterns, most of the Miami stations get out rather well.

What's been interesting to me toward the other end of the "scale".... look at the ground conductivity in Arizona. Who would have expected it to be that good knowing that it's mostly desert there?

And as for a state being surrounded by water having poor conductivity, I hear Hawaii is even worse than Florida.

The ground conductivity in Hawaii may not be good, but what a great place to DX from. Not only do you have the US mainland, but all of the Pacific including Australia and Asia. It's my favorite place to DX, oh and a nice place to visit too. ;D
