Since there was a discussion the worst radio stations of all-time, what are some of the best small to mid-sized radio stations in Tennessee? It can be past or present.

Since this is a questions for the Best "Small" Town station in Tennessee I'll stick with WBNT-FM in Oneida since they are "live" all the time. If they can do it why can't anyone else.
WCRK, Morristown, mostly Live and local..
WLIK, Newport, Live in the mornings and lots of local sports..
WJSQ, Athens, Live and local..

I'm not sure about now, but at one time, Terry Haley had a really good thing going up at WENK in Union City.

They still continue to sound good. Great programming and the on-air presentation is tight.

I can't believe that Terry Hailey didn't buy at least one of the Union City-area FM translators to give WENK a presence on the FM dial. Instead, Paul Tinkle bought them for Thunderbolt, and they are just duplicating the FM signals that he already has in Union City.

Hailey didn't have this issue in the Paris area because he already has WTPR-FM (the former WTWL) simulcasting WTPR-AM.

I have heard WENK and you are right, it is a great station. I contend that you can still be mainly live if it is small town radio and that should be the charm of a smaller station. When a small town radio station tries to sound like a bigger, more powerful radio station, what is the point of listening to a local station with weaker wattage and a predictable playlist.

I visit Norris Lake once or twice a year. I always had it locked to WQLA. The afternoon DJ always played the older country tunes that I loved to hear. Some of which I hadn't heard in so many years. Started going there in 2007. In 2009 I believe, they switched it to WTNQ and it just isn't the same.
