What are your favorite radio stations to grace the Columbus airwaves?

I do remember WBBY as a jazz station, many moons ago. Mark Slackmeyer, the Doonesbury DJ, who of course went on to host the NPR all-night talk show "All Things Reconsidered" (not a bad title if it was real).
 
I'm about to be 44, so my memories are of it just existing basically. I do remember the news of them losing their license being on television. Also, can I just say if Hot 105 would have been on 95.5 that would have been fantastic. I wouldn't have had to hook up my parents outdoor antenna at night for 105, or wait for the simulcast with 107.1 lol
 
Had it been on 95.5, I don't think the simulcast would have been needed at all with that signal. I remember 95.5 giving Dayton's 95.7 a lot of interference as far west as London and between Dublin and Marysville back then, probably on less selective radios than we have now. Still, it was a testament to the signal they still have today.

I remember the first years of WBBY seems like it was CHR, or disco hard to remember. I do remember buying their board and using it for a while at my station in Bellevue, Ohio. The father of the family that owned WBBY at the time was famous for off the wall stuff like riding in a parade dressed as a disco dancer.

Dayton (Pleasant Hill/Piqua)'s 95.7's tower is a considerable distance from Dayton in southern Shelby County. I've worked at that facility (simulcast with Xenia's 95.3) under a previous ownership. Past Springfield it was Kool 95 on 95.3, whatever 95.5 was doing, and Kool 95 again on 95.7.

I remember WCOL-FM in 1968. They were half religious and half what we then called
"Progressive Rock " that was quite a changover from Jesus to the Rolling Stones.
 
Being a bit older, I miss the full service days of WTVN and WBNS. Late 60’s through the early 80’s (except when WBNS started playing album cuts of mor entertainers along with the Perfect Partner debacle). Good music, excellent personalities strong news coverage, community engagement.
