What could Nash FM cause to shake up the NYC Market?

I may not be your average radio listener. However, whenever I am in the US, I tend to flick around between (when available) Alternative/AAA, Country and Hot A/C. People these days generally don't stay glued to one preset.

I think he meant Smooth Jazz, like in WQCD Jazz. WBGO is still much smaller to cover the tri-state like the large Empire stations do. Part of the NY PPM is in the suburbs, which L.I. has bad reception, even in the Five Towns area, where my HD Radio barely picked up a stereo signal on WBGO. Also, no one really listens to radio below 92.

Yeah there is a night and day difference between "regular" jazz and smooth jazz. I always liked smooth jazz but regular jazz just never appealed to me. It sounds too old fashioned and awkward.

Same with me! At least put it on an HD subchannel! Like the other thread, WFAN's HD has been off from the 2nd day of the WFAN 101.9 format.

I spend much time every week listening to WBGO and WFUV which are both excellent radio stations. I am proud to be a financial supporter of both.

From TJ Olsen:
.. '...I am willing to bet at least one of fresh, light, or even possibly z100 add some country... ' <<

Per the thread, that would be a shakeup, no ?

Several years ago, some were wondering if WHTZ would change anything because of direct competitor 92.3.
DID Z-100 do any maneuvering?

The thought here is that, if WNSH takes a generic regional approach (as opposed to emphasizing the concrete-canyon mystique), that it could chip away mostly at WPLJ. Since they're the same owners, though, Cumulus might just be expecting some listeners from elsewhere. As long as there's a finite and sensible choice of car buttons, the average listener's choice of a station dropped from the array might be the most telling clue as to who gets shaken up.

Imho there's always the prospect for a Christmas-music competitor to WLTW. ♫ 'Over the rivers and through the woods' ♫, and such. WNSH has ten months before Black Friday to consider that strategy.

I know KTU called their bluff before 92.3 started by focusing more on recent songs. And in spite of certain people not liking the fact their music overlaps with Z100, they're doing just fine as well.

I happened to notice today that WVIP HD-3 is no longer carrying the Country Hits network. I don't know how long ago they dropped it but I wonder if it had anything to do with Nash coming on the air. WLTW HD-2 still has a country format on air.

WVIP FM 93.5 had been the only station in the area broadcasting an HD4. But while WVIP is still in HD, I have not heard them broadcast an HD2, 3 or 4 in at least 2 months.
Country Hits HD, which was on HD3, still has a website up. But it stopped playing music about a month ago, prior to the launch of Nash FM.
My guess is that WVIP had hoped a while back to rebroadcast the country programming on HD3 via a translator at the Queens/Nassau County border on 106.3. As many readers of this board know, the translator has been off the air for quite some time, as the owner disputes interference complaints to the FCC initiated by Thunder Country, WKMK 106.3.
Now that such a broadcast would be pointless, given the broad coverage of WNSH, I wonder whether WVIP is still interested in rebroadcasting some sort of programming on the translator, should it ever actually return to the air.
New York Country (WLTW HD2) does still broadcast, and provides a good alternative to Nash FM. WALK HD2 on LI is also still broadcasting country music.
