I was going to offer that it only sucked a little bit more than it did in 2010, but I see a winner has already been announced, and you had to be present to win. Damn, late again.
So instead I'll offer something just a tad bit more constructive. If you happen to be in its 100 square acre listening area, KCSN under Sky Daniels has been quite the welcome relief. And I would be remiss if I didn't extend to them a shout-out and sincere "thank you" for the excellent and unique Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers concert they had on campus this fall, with Jakob Dylan and Lissie opening up for him. Brilliant idea by Sky, brilliant execution of the event (no small task I'm sure) and an awesome concert. I hope the station is rewarded for such out-of-the-box thinking.
I always knew the future of my favorite music (American rock 'n' roll, that is- all subgeneres included, not just the same 500 songs KLOS plays and the different, but just as repetitive 500 songs KYSR plays) would one-day be relegated to public radio due to changes in demos and the poor job of its caretakers (see nearby thread for related discussion on that point), I was just somewhat saddened a bit to see the future come to pass this year. But at least it's there (for now). Keep up the good work, Sky.
Ho hum. Anyone have airchecks of Power 106 from the late 80s/early 90s? Now THAT was LA Radio at its best! Always looking, always will.

What can I say about LA radio in 2011…same as 2010.
Folks I know I dissed the heck outta Power 106, KJLH and KHHT but now since I discovered Billboard Biz and The Wayback Machine, I found the playlists for KJLH, KHHT, KKBT and KPWR and now have a full understanding of what radio sounded before 2004 or 2005. As we now venture into 2012 let's embrace these radio stations the best way we know how. Happy New Year wdb2003, David Eduardo, Kilamanjero, KDM 7000, Justpassingthrough, Martin Mac, Cal Guy, Blazin 2009, E-Dawg and Channel Flipper my Radio-Info Family. Especially you wdb2003 Happy New Years and thanks for all your advice and schooling me on how radio was back in the mid 90's. I know this about our reflections on how radio was last year but I just wanted to send a New Years shout out to my radio info peeps. Be safe y'all.

Well we do have a timeline from this year alot of shake ups on air
Cumulus takes over KLOS and KABC Jim Ladd exit after many years on air
Bryan Simmions exit KOST being there since 1983. Later rehired for fill ins at KTWV
Kari Steele moves to KOST middays after being on KBIG for years doing mornings middays and afternoons. Former TRL host Damien Fahey takes over middays
Victor Zaragoza exit KHHT Rick Dees returns to radio again for a 3rd time as morning host the station moves into more of a Rhythmic Oldies direction.
Luscious Liz Hernandez leaves Big Boy's Mornings and is now with E! News. DJ Eric-D-Lux also exits to focus on his dj gigs national. J Cruz from KVEG Las Vegas takes over nights.
KFWB is now put in a trust headed by former Shamrock executive Bill Clark under the name Clark Radio LLC. This was due to CBS Corp.'s ownership limitations after they bought KCAL-TV 9 years prior. KFWB simulcast on 93.1 HD3 comes to an end as the result
KSCA rebranded from "La Nueva 101.9" to "LA 101.9
The Dodgers announced that KLAC 570AM would become the flagship for the team's radio network beginning in the 2012 season No longer on KABC
I doubt we will see a major format change next year just tweaks and more dj's exit from stations just my opinion. If a switch does happen my money is on 1260 AM. I been back home for 5 years and how many formats have 1260 AM had?
