What do you think of John Evans doing the KCBS radio 10pm News

Is that the same John Evans that was on KKSF in the 1990's

John Evans was on KDFC until recently. Prior to that, he had been a radio news anchor for 610/KFRC, KYA, and K-101. My memory is recalling that he used to do the news on Dr. Don Rose's famed KFRC morning show, but that may have been later when Rose was on K-101. The KCBS site says he also reported for TV on KPIX.

Llew: I remember John as the afternoon anchor at KFRC, with John Mack Flanagan. DDR had Jack Hines until '75, then Paul Fredericks.

After that I'm a little fuzzy (I want to say Robert McCormick, then Dave McQueen). I suppose John could have been on mornings at some point in the 80s...and he very likely filled in on that shift.

Good info as usual, Michael. After thinking about it a bit, I seem to recall Evans as the morning news anchor with Terry McGovern on K-101. So it's likely that John also worked with Dr. Don prior to that on K-101.

Though it may actually have been Jack Kulp (current morning guy on KOIT) who working with Dr. Don and/or McGovern. As new anchors - their voices (and names) were similar.

John's had a long career. He was the afternoon news guy on KFRC until its demise as a Top 40 in 1986. When he went to K101, it was as its news person and then he was offered the job of PD, which he accepted. So for a while, he was off the air administrating as PD of K101.

But before he came to San Francisco in 1980, John did news in L.A. at KNX-FM until November 1979, when he was replaced by Tom McKay. What brought him to SF was the AOR KaMEL. He was hired as a member of its news team until the station changed direction in 1984. That's when he crossed the street to KFRC.

But John began his career in Seattle, his hometown back in 1976.

Llew gave me credit for good info too soon...I was thinking of John Winters...not John Evans.

Ya missed one, sandwix. John was at the old 1260 KYA in between the KaMEL and KFRC.

I remember that Dave McQueen was on KKSF with John Evans in the 1990's before Dave McQueen did the 10pm KCBS AM spot in 2002.

I missed another one...John also did mornings as a jock at KSAN (pre-Bone era) in the early 90s.

If I am reading this correctly, The title is "What Do I (You) Think Of John Evans Doing The KCBS Radio 10PM News?"

My answer is..... I am completely fine with that. I am glad he is still in the Bay Area and most importantly still employed in SF Radio.

It would be hard to imagine that someone out there would be pissed off that John Evans is doing a 10PM radio news shift.

I think John Evans doing news on KCBS is great news for late night listeners...John's a pro who sounds great. That's what I think.
