What do you think of the upcoming fall season with the CW & My Network TV promos

I live in the Scranton / Wilkes Barre market and already am seeing the new promos for the CW and My Network TV hitting the airwaves.

It's interesting that they are gradually easing out the WB and UPN monikers slowly. You would think that they would do like PAX did when "i" was merged on screen with that network.

Not all stations that are WB will become CW; but, an easier cohesiveness during the transition for viewers would be welcome.

Of those two networks, the only promos I've been seeing are for The CW; don't know about the My Network promos.

But of those two, I think the CW with the best from both UPN and WB will be in for the long haul. As for My Network TV? If we want telenovelas, there's always Univision.

From the promos I have seen, My looks like it is most likely to fail. Well that and their business model.

Local stations can do it on local time, but not the networks.

My Network TV is owned by Fox. CW is a 50/50 joint venture of CBS and Warner Bros. Some WB stations will go with CW, while some will go with My Network TV, the same for UPN stations.

The Fox O&O's have began using My logos and branding (due to the CW merger ticking them off). Many stations (including WATL WB/MY and WUPA UPN/CW Atlanta) will use their old identites until the end of August. (WATL announced they will use "My ATL TV" on September 1st, and WUPA "CW Atlanta" TBA).

You're forgetting one tiny thing.

MY Network isn't even on the air yet

I for one am not surprised to not see promos for MY.

That said though, I would look for them to syndicate the promos to their affiliates rather than use any of the FOX properties (except for the national ads, which would typically be seen on FSN, FNC, FSC, all three FCS channels, FX and maybe FMC).

Just my $.02 worth :D

Here's my question: I suspect that The WB is having it's stations air CW promos--in which case, how come UPN hasn't acknowledged The CW?

Re: What do you think of the upcoming fall season with the CW & My Network TV pr

Yesterday for the first time I saw an ad for the CW on WGN-TV Channel 9 Chicago. I have seen a LOT of ads for MyTV on FOX32 Chicago. MYTV will be on Channel 50 in Chicago (Which Fox owns)

I don't watch Channel 50 at all. But the MY TV comes up quite often on Channel 32. They say watch for MY TV this fall on Channel 50

My guess is because it would upset FOX, (owner of CW competitor My), owner of UPN affiliates in many major markets. FOX might threaten to drop UPN early unless they got "equal time" for My Network TV promos. More than likely, a truce was called, and they decided to not promote either new network on UPN. It's also possible that UPN actually has a negative brand association that neither new network wanted to be connected with. Or they figure not enough people watch UPN to make it worth their time to promote anything to UPN's viewers. Pick a reason, any reason. ;)
