Thanks for the info on RCVI; I suspected they were in that region; I knew from the dialect that it probably wasn't from Mexico.

Now, here is the bandscan from my parents' location, Ridge Manor East,FL (approx 49 miles due west of Orlando); it's 73 miles n.n.e. of my St. Petersburg location; not a big difference, but there are differences.

Also, since St Petersburg is a peninsula on the Florida peninsula, the 300 miles to Havana is over a lot of water which intensifies the AM signals and Radio Reloj even in the middle of the day can be heard in the background on 570 and another local, WDAE 620. (only during dead air usually)

Ridge Manor East/Wesbster,FL

530- Blend of Cuban Classical and Jazz and RCVI (540 rules the 530 frequency during the day)
540- moderate to strong signal from WFLA (legal i.d. WFLF), Orlando
550- Cuban station with WDUN, Gainesville, GA sometimes in the background, especially early morings, just around sunrise.
560- WQAM, Miami
570- WTBN- Pinellas Park,FL and Radio Reloj battling it out
580- WDBO- moderate to good signal day and night
590- Cuban Classical and sometimes another station under that, that I've never been able to ID
600- weak Cuban signal and a mish-mash of several other stations, none identifiable.

Re: Interesting station on 550 Khz

Have been listening to an interesting station on 550 Khz from Asbury Park on the Jersey Shore for the last few days. I beleive it is a TIS station somewhere out there. They don't ID. The only audio is a loop of a guy saying "testing 1-2-3".

Anyone else hear this?

Mike - K1MH
