What does your AM band look like at night? Part 3 530-600

pensacola, fl

Most are UNKNOWN due to my lack of spanish - too much QRM to ID
530 - beacon/NYC station (spanish)
540 - Coast to Coast AM/Mexico
550 - Music in spanish
560 - Sports Radio (ESPN?)
570- Tic Tock (cuba) - Coast to Coast AM - mexico
580 - too much to ID
590 - local panama city groundwave station "jones"
600 - unknown - news and weather station

Rob...

My guess is that 600 was probably WREC in Memphis....which has been somewhat regular on my frequent stays in Gulf Shores/Perdido Key.
560 could have also been Memphis....or Nashville, or Miami. (If not Dothan).

570 may be KLIF/Dallas. I don't know how restrictive their directional pattern is at night. I will say I've heard KRLD pretty clearly in the Panhandle at night, and they null to the east-northeast.

I THINK there's a sports station ESPN on 560 in Miami. 560 Beaumont is also a possibilty in the Redneck Riviera.

WQAM, 560 Miami, is ESPN overnights (Monday through Friday midnight eastern time through 5am);

On weekends the weekend the ESPN feed begins at 10pm.

Hope this helps to i.d. the 560 you're receiving in the Pensacola area.

530 spanish is probably Cuba elevator music or RVCI (if you logged it before Hurricane Ike killed it's signal)
570 is Radio Reloj. They are a nonstop news station in Cuba. The weird beeps is either tic tock under the newsreader's voice, or the CW code "RR", which is broadcasted (the RR code) every minute of every day, 24/7.

Roadrunner followed by Coyote perhaps?

LOL Welll.....I didn't wanna show my ???, but far back as I can remember, there's been a morse code type beep tone in the vicinity of 530, with varying numbers of short and long beeps over the years. I noticed it many years ago when it was of sufficient strength to be slightly audible under KWMT at 540. Could one of you "pros" tell me what this is??

Nope, it don't sound anything like the Roadrunner ;D

Hi guys and gals (any female DXers out there?). Newbie Mark here. I was Googling "Spanish AM 530" and ran into this board so I had to join in. The Morse code I hear is spelling LYQ. That's Morristown, TN xcasting on 529kHz [[go here for full list: http://www.dxinfocentre.com/ndb.htm ]]. Been wondering for months what i'm hearing on 530. The frequency fascinates me. Tonight & other nights I can hear two different Spanish stations by carefully adjusting my MTM Scientific 2ft open loop (great performer) against the KA1103. One is playing soft pop/elevator muzak w/ a lady ID'ing in Espanol occasionally. Thought I heard her say Cuba a couple times tonight. The other station this time of night (11:30 CST) is talk radio in Espanol. Two male voices. No ID. What am I hearing? Cuba and Turks & Caicos? I've ID'd CIAO in the past but no sign of them tonight. Any ideas on the Spanish stations? -MDH

From where I am located (27.75 latitude north) about 300 miles n. of Havana, I receive the 530 from Cuba day and night; to me their programming sounds like a hybrid of smooth jazz and classical music.

I've noticed after someone else pointed it out, that I haven't been hearing the 530 from the Turks/Caicos that I haven't been hearing that 530 in the background at night lately. (lasted check about a week ago); apparently Hurricane Ike destroyed or damaged that station.
