What Ever Happen To The Old Children's Radio Drama Series On WMBI???

A while back when Abby Weirsema used to be on WMBI,
she was the host for: Just For Kids on AM-1110 back in
2000 thrugh 2003.

I used to listen to quite a few great old radio series that
Moody Bible used to but on for their kids radio programs.
Old radio dramas like:
>The Sugar Creek Gang
>Ranger Bill
>Where The River Begins
>The Children's Bible Hour
>(and a few others and so forth)

I just brought a His Kids Radio but there aren't any old-time
radio programs that I used to listen to!

Does anybody knows of where I can find them either on MP3 or CD or Cassette?

Also Does anyone on this board has any other memories of old
Children's Programs that used to be on WMBI???...

thank you very much

Hello Grandpa! I thought WMBI still did te kids programming on Sunday afternoons, but I could be wrong. You might want to try milwaukee's WVCY at-
http://www.vcyamerica.org
They have lots of those programs on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. And, they stream of course! I dn't listen to all of them, but I do like the replays of the half hour Children's Bible Hour Classic Programs. Right now, they are playing episodes from 1993 with old Uncle Charlie coming on in th middle and end from today. This is only on Saturday mornings at 8:00. They run the 15 minute Story Time version week days at 4:00. I've always been drawn to just how real this program was, with the children singing and acting in their own story recordings. It still makes me wish that I had the opportunity to grow up on that program, and the funniest part about that is I'm a Catholic! Go figure! But, I hope that helps.

Hi Grandpa!
I hate to tell you but that format on WMBi is long gone. Abby is with Shadow Traffic in Chicago, and has recently been giving traffic reports on WMBI-but doesn't work for them. They seem to be going more towards all talk...hope that doesn't hurt them in the long run with the next generation. That was some great programming that you are remembering...I was a fan myself.

In the late 1960's I visited WMBI at Chicago & LaSalle and thought in was 1946 in the radio studio. Even the big organ for the dramas

Grandpa, Children's Bible Hour is located about a mile from my home in Grand Rapids, MI. They were very nice people when I owned my 4 stations. They bought time as well as traded programs for great jingles I used.

You might send them a "love letter." I bet they have plenty of programs you'd like and a way to hear them.
