What Happened to Joe Centanni - Rochester Rock Remembers?

Might I suggest that Legends add "Kumbaya" to the playlist, and that everyone now join in on a rousing - but soulful - chorus....

Now ! the last post pretty much sums up what I said to be a lack of passion for this business, no heart, no passion for anyone or their feelings, just the quick dig at other folks and the rim shot .

Q, remember that there are many posters here who, despite their hard work over the years, have ended up as nothing more than footnotes in WNY radio history. And some of THOSE have had trouble governing their passions when it comes to their frustrations. With that in mind, it is a good idea to temper your own judgement regarding such posters ... including me, at times ... who've come on a little strong. It is also never anything but wise to do as the Lord commanded us. "... but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." (Matthew 5:39).

The bottom line is that you and select others over at Legends love what you do, and it shows in your on-air presentations. In times like these, that counts for a lot. Remember ... even in this business, the cream always rises to the top.

Be well, my friend.

It's good that you folks at Legends are having the time of your lives. Enjoy it! As we all know, good fortune can turn on a dime. Even though you have passion and pride, some might think Legends can be had in one book. The point is moot. Until another station takes you on, the one eyed man is king in the land of the blind. As to the posters here who offer criticism and praise? We're not all malcontents. We have the same pasion about radio as you. Our perspective may be a bit different because we're out of the business or in another market or working out of radio but in an associated field.

Just one question. If Bob Savage or Randy Michaels, or any number of guys with major market credentials decided to take you on with an equal or greater FM signal, would you continue to do WHAT you do the WAY you do it, knowing that you'd be facing a direct competitor whose goal it is to put you out of business? If you don't have the "image" of a direct format competitor in your head during the good times, you should; because once that competitor shows up, it's too late. Good luck to you. Continued success and much happiness. Just remember, if you're coasting, you're usually going down hill.

Thanks to all of you, especially to you Pete, for your encouraging words. My eyes are on the prize. Keep coming with your thoughts on Legends. Whatever doesn't kill us will make us stronger.

Sir!
There are two things you have to know (1) The Music is the star not the person making the presentation there are of course some exceptions but, I can not see them coming to Rochester to kick Legends in the head. That rule applies in New York, LA, and even Newark and Erie. Get them mixed up and you will be nothing more than a bruise in two books. (2) are we talking major market 60s & 70s or today. No comparison! I survied Bill Drake many could or would not make the transition, peoples misconception of the Drake format was no personality, not true. It was mixing your talent with a straight forward motion NO Clutter. In the day, six different jocks were the norm and each was as different as night and day. Working they're magic within the timeframe alloted was an art form. So to answer your question what if I were in the sights of a few Big Guns would I change my style, Nope!! I would dance wit! who brung me

Well phooey! I finally had time to listen to my favorite oldies program "Rochester Rock Remembers" tonight, been busy on Sat nights for the past few months. Find out it's GONE. Did a search to learn what happened and found this thread.

I started listening to "Rochester Rock Remembers" on the internet stream several years ago when the DFW local 770 KAAM was preempting the local oldies show for SMU basketball.

Very sorry to find Joe is no longer on. If Joe reads this, he will remember Ed in Dallas who used to call in with requests. That's me. Thanks Joe! GREAT, Unique oldies show. I really miss the nostalgia of the old commercials. Hope to hear from you on the air somewhere again soon. Ed in Dallas

Gee. It's been two weeks and nobody's mentioned Legends' latest live Saturday night request show ... Saturday Night Juke Box, I think. Mike Vickers has been doing it.

I was driving around last night (Saturday) and put Legends on. If it wasn't automated then someone was not talking at all. Seems like they would have done a Christmas music show if someone was there.

There is no live Saturday Night Show on Legends. Mike Vickers did a couple a shift changes from Sunday to Saturday on a temorary basis, and may flip those shifts from time to time, but this is not permanant. For Joe Peters..... We did it man!! WLGZ is in at 4.9 12+ now topping 98PXY, and continuing to beat WCMF, WFXF, The Drive and others. Now sitting at #6 in the market 12+ and knocking at the door for the #5 spot. Way to go Legends 102.7FM!

Meanwhile ... Did anyone besides me hear an actual jock on WRMM's disco show this past Saturday night? It was Marc Cronin, who was a CMF castoff after they were acquired by Entercom a few years back.

Good. Crons should be, and deserves to be back on the radio.

Yogoidar...I second that!! IIRC, back when I knew Marc in like the late 70's...he'd be the first to...well you know!! The things we will do for a gig that pays some bills :-\ (sorry Marc, it's been a Long time)

-- brought to you by the makers of Heineken. And now a word from our alternate sponsors - Genesee Cream Ale.

The question is, where will he be at 12:05 AM? Jeremiah's, Johnny's, The Dinosaur, Woody's????

As much as things change...they stay the same!! ::)
