What happened to NM morning show at Star 105

Man...I tuned in last week and there are so many changes at NM star105. The only voice I heard in the morning was the bagel guy what happened to his partner? And where is the news guy? And where is their midday guy?

nanette moved on....show in abit of a flux...interns in and out prob waiting for new om to make a serious hire he needs help

What about the news guy? And who is the kid with the bagel guy in the AM ? He is bad. The show now sounds like guys night out. Why did Nanette leave? I liked her personality. She was upbeat and warm. What about middays? Who is that cat?

gary often posts here maybe he could give insight into nanette's departure....gary himself i think would admit he needs a female voice it is a boys club and immature at that....hard to hit the target demo 35-40 female with that kinda stuff ....ok to do if you have a female voice in the mix....y1039 really in need of help that morning show has never had a focus and now just sounds like a bunch of kids screwing around need to settle on a format and get somebody in that chair who has some cachet and knows what he/she is doing

I haven't heard anything about Stew (the news guy) but I am guessing he is on vacation I can't imagine he would leave since he's been there forever and has deep roots in the community. The old mid day guy (Sean McNeil) left and the new guy is Jon Hemmer formerly of XLC and Star's sister station Y 103.9. They shuffled him over from mid days at Y and hired Java to replace him on "The Beat of the Burbs". I hope that helps.

> Are they looking for a partner for him? What about the PD I heard he was leaving too. How many PD's has it been now in the last couple of years? I was listening the other morning headed downtown and I realized how young the bagel guy is. I never noticed that before with Nanette. She balanced the two. I have to admitt her laugh could get on my nerves. Then I jumped to Eric and Kathy, they sound great!

So where did he go??? I thought he was good in midday, and I heard he had pretty good ratings in McHenry County.

Yea, I liked him too. All these changes why is the morning guy staying? Why didn't he leave with Nanette? I thought for sure I would be hearing them downtown at some point.

Gary is in his early 30s and this next person will be their fourth OM in two years. I have to defend Jim (the OM from Saginaw) it was not that he couldn't make up his mind if he wanted the job, trust me he wanted the job, but there were extenuating circumstances that kept him from staying. It is not my place to say what but I hear he is now on the sales end and I wish him nothing but the best. As far as the current OM goes he is moving on to opportunities outside of radio and you cannot blame anyone for leaving if a better situation materializes we all would do it. A OM who is already local might help if they want to stay in the area and raise a family. Good luck to whoever comes in next.

These are my suggestions to improve the station....get a new male/female team in the morning, The Bagel Guy has run his course and is too juvenile for women. Nanette supposedly left for family reasons but on her last day she clearly stated that she and Bagel fought constantly off the air and they did not get along at all. He hired her before he was bounced out of management there. I would expand the music play list to include Motown and other upbeat 60's and 70's music and change the positioner to simply say..The Best Variety..Star 105.5. They have had very good talent there but the the pay is not very good so they leave for better opportunities. The Bagel Guy's talents are limited so he would not be able to move up and admits that. Hopefully, the new management will assess the situation and make the appropriate changes.

Hey, I think I might know the answers to your questions. I'll make this quick before I get ripped apart by Tom from IL again. (waves) Hi Tommy.

As far as the morning show goes, yes, it can get a little juvenile at times, but it almost always has been. Even prior to me doing mornings. It's the fun part of radio and doing mornings. Some juvenile behavior is ok. Can it get out of control sometimes when there's not someone there to even it out? Sure. I try and control that, because sometimes it goes beyond where it supposed to. I try and watch that closely. But trust me, management (local AND corporate) are VERY happy with the way the show is going and fully trust me with the reigns. And so do the listeners.

A new morning co-host starts Monday.

The other questions about OM's/PD's, etc. I'm not gonna touch. That area is not for me to discuss. I'm confident in our upper managements decision on who to bring in here. Both Jim & Bobby were great assets to the station and both will be/are missed.

And the same goes for Nanette. Her on air work was great and I do wish her all the best back home with her family. She was a great hire and hope she finds even better things back home.

Ok, maybe that wasn't as quick of a response to everything that I thought it would be. Sorry Tom. You can rip me for THAT too.

Nice...REAL NICE! And you work where??? Let me know so I can listen to your "BIG MARKET TALENT" I will always rank high with the listeners because I am REAL. It works...just ask Bagel...he knows the truth. I know the demo baby and thats why they bond to me.

-Nanette

OK, I'll bite. <grin>

Why did you leave Gary and Star?

> Nanette? The floor is all yours!
> folks this is an awful lot of attention to pay to a station that has little or no coverage/listeners....its hard to know if it is truly gary/nanette doing the postings but if it is they seem forthright and thats cool....they have to accept the criticizms also...nanette is correct..she does connect with the demo....but she is a bit of a diva and takes herself way to seriously...gary has been candid in assessing his talent (not great but connects to mchenry county) now lets all move on

Little to No coverage - common sense here states star 105.5 has great coverage and the ratings have always been solid ... fact

"Real Facts":

Star has great coverage, to serve its local communities.

Ratings? Star is a local sale. They appeal to local businesses mostly that are not concerned what Star rates in Chicago metro ratings. They do dont't sell Market #3 "ratings".

Star serves its purpose. And it is great that a local station/show would generate such discussion. While this is only a radio forum, attention and discussion is always good.
