What Happened to Song Title & Artist on Now 97.5?

I noticed that Now 97.5 no longer has a female voice prerecorded at the end of every song giving the title and artist.

The station has no DJs outside of morning drive. I thought prerecording the title and artist at the end of every song made a lot of sense. Many radio listeners say they WANT to hear this information whenever radio stations do surveys. In this day of so many stations having fewer live DJs, I'm surprised more stations don't do this.

B101.1 had been doing the same thing. Since they no longer stream and I can't pick them up where I live, I'm wondering if they also discontinued the prerecorded artist and title info at the end of every song.

I agree the song tags should be put back, I know some listeners think they are annoying, but why??? I don't know many new songs and like to hear title and artist with the tag, especially when 97.5 had their Christmas format, some songs I loved and I am glad they identified them. Sunny was great at Christmas in the past but many of their songs did not have any info and that made it hard if you wanted to purchase the tune....

Get a radio with and RDS display - then you can see the title and artist scroll by. An HD radio will get you a similar display.

I have an rds in my 2009 mustang and also sirius which comes standard....and have XM at home the displays are pretty good...but you have to scroll between artist and song title......but on the radio it does it automatically...although some stations still are not including rds and nothing on AM....

Well, there's a few problems with scrolling the info.

Now 97.5 and B101.1 are competing for workplace listeners. These stations especially are likely to be played by one radio but heard throughout an office, store or other workplace.

In this era of PPM, many people who are listening to a radio station will never see the scroll. Same thing for looking up the info on the website. Most people won't go through the trouble.

I wonder why Now went through the trouble of recording all their songs with a voice at the end telling us title and artist... and now has gone through the trouble of re-recording the same songs with no title or artist info.

Now plays a recorded liner between every song anyway. I don't think they do any segues where there isn't a station mention or slogan played between the songs. So it's okay to tell us the station slogan, dial position, other info, but including the artist and title at the end of each song is a BAD thing?

Is B101.1 still including title and artist at the end of each song or not?

I'm willing to bet that B101 hasn't stopped the song tags, they probably will now that 97.5 has... One would think 97.5 would stop song tags if and only if B101 did first.

Anyone can find out what B101 is doing by being in the Philadelphia region and tuning in to their secret frequency. Psssst. It's 101.1 MHz.

For you out-of-towners who are denied listening because they have no stream, yes the song tags are still there.

B101 and Now 97.5 don't seem to be in as much direct competition as they once were. Now 97.5 has evolved into a Hot AC station, while B101 continues it's all-things-to-all-people approach that seems to satisfy everyone in this town.

I suspect that the NOW people did some soul-searching or focus grouping and found that with a hot AC, the song-tags were more of an annoyance. And, by the way, they still tag "new music" songs with title and artist - the theory being, I suppose, that everyone already knows who the older songs are from. And if not, as I said above, there's always an RDS display or even the Internet stream that identifies songs.

B101, for some reason, still does not scroll title and artist on their RDS display, just a static "B101".

I like the way 97.5 has evolved. They are sounding real good latley. It is almost like having PST back on 97.5. (I do not get PST on 94.5 due to WDAC) I also think those song tags were annoying. B101 = Boring 101 (just my opinion) Also 101's sound quality is tinny, like it is coming out of a tin can. (hard to explain, it just does not sound as good as the other stations)
