What happened to The Breeze---why aren't they playing any 60's music???

Here in Midwood brooklyn I have been listening to The breeze since they took over 107.1 seven years ago.I cannot digest the change in the music played!!!The staion sounds closer to 106.7 than ever.I still miss Y107 and wish that press would run their country format on 107.1.

Radio stations need to evolve and that includes the Breeze. In looking what they've played over the past day or so, they still have lots more variety than many A/C stations. Much deeper in the 70s than where most A/C's are today.

1965 was 45 years ago.....someone who graduated HS in 65 is now 63...well out of the demo that any ad agency wants.

In the other hand, if you graduated in 1990, you're now 38. Time to start bringing in those appropriate 90s tunes and beyond.

The Breeze has been very successful and still remains very different to the other A/Cs.

The Breeze replaced my Magic 98.3 preset. I can't stand how the current Magic PD is making it into a Hot AC playing songs that can be heard on 12 other stations. Phil Collins into Lady Gaga is a trainwreck, it is not "Magic". I'd rather hear The Breeze with a little static and no Lady Gaga or Katy Perry. The 60s would be nice. My ideal AC station would play no songs from the past 22 years I have been alive.

My favorite AC station ever was Sunny 104.5 which had an equal mix of 60s, 70s, and 80s soft AC.

63???
Im 38,and I think the format is slowly going down the toilet!I used to love to pull in "the Breeze" on 107.1(on my grundig 700) and now its not even worth the trouble.Dont get me wrong I still listen to other stations for new and upcoming music, like your popular z and q 100's but there needs to be a place on the dial wheres theres still good music and unfortunately if you are "not in the demo" which obviously I am not anymore then I guess you are SOL if all you have is FM.Well, thank goodness I have Sirius and MP3 in the car and house. We have 101.1 WCBS,but even they are slowly phasing out the 60s and 70s in favor of 80s and 90s.I like the 80s,but the 90s just suck.
So i guess its the end of the road for FM for us "old timers",it was fun while it lasted.Someone get me a cane.

Magic Jelly Beans.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule. Lots of 40 plus year old women actually love Lady Gaga, They're exceptions as well.

I'm just stating that a station like the breeze is very dependent on national & regional ad buys. Unfortunately, buyers tend to be on the young side & are convinced nobody over 55 will change their buying habits...they can't be influenced.

So, all stations...no matter what your format is, is always looking for ways to appeal to the younger end of their target demos.

The Breeze still plays LOTS more variety than most A/C stations. They're just trying to evolve. It doesn't mean that tomorrow they're going to be another Hot A/C station.

And don't worry about the cane. I suspect you won't need one for a long time :)

Nick,

The station you describe is a "soft classic hits". It's not Adult CONTEMPORARY. The name alone says there's going to be some newer music included.
