What Happened to the Fort Myers Radio Market?

There's a thread about WAVV 101.1 in the Fort Myers market. I just tried looking up the station's ratings. It had long been #1 in that market but the station stopped subscribing to Arbitron/Nielsen several years ago.

I can't find the market on the ****************** website. Did they mistakenly leave it out? Or does Southwest Florida not have enough stations subscribing? I believe the market used to be in the 80s or 90s in rank.

I think they are about the sixth largest radio market in the state,
after Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jax, and on the heels of WPB.

- the Fort Myers/Naples board still exists on this site; I just posted there putting Gregg in the subject line.

To locate it; I went to the Forum Heading that then Radio in the United States, then went to Florida, where it lists the available boards and it is there! :)

You can find the 12+ ratings for Ft. Myers/Naples here.

WAVV does not appear to be a Neilsen subscriber and is not listed.

I think the folks who operate the ****************** website had simply taken the listing for Fort Myers down for a short time. Today, it has July '19 ratings listed on it, but all the numbers are zeros. And the Arbitron site says "new today" on its Fort Myers listing. So I just caught ****************** at the wrong time. Soft AC WJPT is listed as #1, Talk station WFSX-FM is #2. I think that reverses last month's ratings.

101.1 WAVV does not subscribe. As one of the last Easy Listening stations, aimed at older listeners and not looking for agency spots, I guess they have no need to pay Nielsen for its service. But the website for WAVV claims it has been #1 in the Fort Myers ratings for 24 years in a row. When it did get listed by Arbitron, I always remember it being #1, but the listings ended some years ago when Arbitron began only publishing the subscribing station's numbers.

Thanks for the info posted above.
