Think Progress:
Air America To Declare Bankruptcy, But Progressive Radio Remains Strong
Air America Radio will announce a major restructuring on Friday, which is expected to include a bankruptcy filing, three independent sources have told ThinkProgress.

AAR has issued a statement dismissing this as a "rumor."
Think Progress is a liberal news site from The Center For American Progress and a source not likely to be unfriendly to AAR.

AAR hit earlier financial bumps shortly after starting up and lost leased stations in LA and Chicago as result (but held on to New York's WLIB). Reportedly, Air America Radio was late with the rent at time to Inner City Broadcasting, WLIB's owner, and this was one factor leading to AAR's move to WWRL. Now what happens with WWRL if AAR goes bankrupt - or even is in a position to seriously consider it? New York landlords are New York landlords.

If AAR goes away, the "better" hosts would more than likely get picked up by a syndicator. The net itself may go away, but there will still be outlets for the hosts that are picked up.

Maybe enough of those people who keep posting about how much they hate JACK and want the Oldies back can petition the ownership of WWRL to make it happen Post-AAR... "WWRL Golden Oldies"

WWRL already tried that about 10 years ago. Didn't work, but with not much competition these days......
