What Has Gotten Into Cablevision?? They Agree To Carry Sportsnet-New York!

Given the long and ugly standoff that kept the YES Network off of Cablevision-owned systems for about a year after the network launched, I fully expected a similar standoff between Cablevision and the new Sportsnet-New York that would likely preclude Cablevision subscribers from seeing any Mets' games on the new network during the 2006 season.

But that's not going to be the case. Broadcasting and Cable.com is reporting (registration may be required) that Cablevision and Sportsnet have come to an agreement that will put the latter on the former's expanded basic lineup effective immediately.

By the way, Sportsnet-New York is carrying tonight's (March 23rd) Mets' preseason game against the Florida Marlins from Jupiter, Florida. SNY will be on Cablevision systems in-time for the first pitch.

Wow. Cablevision probably didn't want to go through all of the legal crap again, so they probably agreed to whatever terms Comcast, The Mets, and TimeWarner put forth.
 
Also Cablevision is a Long Island based company and Long Island tends to have a high concentration of Mets fans.
