What I am worried about concerning Christmas music in Philly

Just to add to the thread:

Lite 106.7 in NYC is already teasing, running 15 second promos saying Christmas comes early to Lite-FM on Thanksgiving Day. Just an FYI

Nope... since 2003, Lite-FM has gone wall to wall Christmas music from at least Thanksgiving through Christmas Day. Last year, they started on Friday, November 18. Along with Lite in 2003, 102.7 WNEW played all Christmas music, and in 2004, 95-5 'PLJ played the holiday tunes with 106.7. Last year, Lite-FM had the "non-stop holiday favorites" all to itself. So, yes, stations most certainly do go "all-Christmas" in the Big Apple... especially 106.7 Lite-fm.

im gonna miss all x-mas in philly

not unless gm takes over 97.5 and does x-mas music for 2 months
or mabye 95.7 will do it

What type of playlist does Lite-fm have, is it the wide "oh wow" variety that Sunny used last season, or the same 1985 to the present worn out tunes, with tons of pop fluff. Also, does XM have a channel that flips to all Christmas in November or December for that matter. I do not see a Sounds of the Season channel on my XM system. If they do, is it the Classic Variety, or does the Country, R&B, 40's, 50's, 60's 70's and 80's channels have their own blend of Christmas cuts??

selfishly speaking , only ... i find all christmas tunes all of the time super-depressing ... just me , that's all ... no offense intended to anyone on here

There's B-101.

I heard it's now going to be called "B-101's Bland Christmas Extravaganza"

Lite-fm's holiday playlist is fairly bland. It includes at least one religious tune in each music set, and spans from Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby to Mariah Carey and Elton John. They don't have a huge "oh wow" playlist like Sunny 104-5 did. I was familiar with Sunny, and I think that they did a much better job than New York's Lite; you are guaranteed to hear many repeats throughout the holiday season on 106.7---the one big flaw.

Flaw? I wouldn't call that a flaw. People don't mind hearing the same Christmas songs hundreds of times for a few weeks. In fact, if I hear an unfamiliar Christmas song, I usually turn it off. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Here is one good thing about the all Christmas format (there are others): The regular playlist sounds fresh for a while after Christmas.

When will Arby's start selling the egg nog shakes this year?
