But if you did that, would 92.1 and 102.9 cannibalize eachother too much? Maybe.
If you evolve 102.9 to CHR/Pop, you want to do it slowly, over maybe a 6 month period. Don't all of a sudden start playing Shinedown, The Fray, and All-American Rejects one day.
Add a few more pop titles at a time, while not ignoring your current Rhythmic tracks. At this current time, I'd say maybe Pink, and Kelly Clarkson. I believe they already play Gaga. And then you'll eventually get to the Shinedown and AAR records, but thats a few more months down the road. That way you ween the audience on to it somewhat. Sure, you'll probably lose a few along the way, but the majority will stick around, whereas if you just shifted suddenly, you'd lose much more.
B96 in Chicago, while it's losing to WKSC in PPM, I personally think their logs look fantastic! Or something along the lines of AMP radio in LA. Very Rhythmic leaning CHR, but extremely hit driven. Could still call it "Hot 1029".
But could Dayton support that, plus 945, PLUS Urban on 92.1? I'm not sure. I'd say make 92.1 a bit hotter, if possible, but not too 'young' where it would/could damage 102.9
