What is the longest MP3 file you ever recorded off Houston Radio?

Anyone use Stepvoice to record FM Broadcasts? Or something else?
I was wanting to know the longest aircheck that is continuous (No stopping and recording at a later time) you have recorded.

What I find that does a excellent job is the C crane Witness Digital Recorder. The FM is not very sensitive but AM is good. When I record air checks usually do them about a hour at 96k. I sometimes have it hooked up to another receiver with my outdoor antenna to get better reception.

I use 256k via Stepvoice. I wonder if I should use 128k instead, what would be the difference in sound quality?

If its a decent sounding FM station 96-128K should be fine. FM I don't believe it will make much more different if you go over 128k.

Unless you are listening with really high-end equipment, you probably won't notice the difference.

Would it make a difference if I were listening to them on a Quadraphonic setup with a pair of AR-50b 4 ohm speakers for the front speakers? 8 ohm Duals for the rear speakers? Those AR's are high end it cost my father $1000 for a pair of them back in 1987. Of course they are refoamed!

This may not be from Houston but it was Austin Radio.
The longest I recorded at one time was 3 hours on the one station, it was KASE 100.7 Country. I use Total Recorder from High Criteria very good and very reasonably priced piece of software, you can even setup scheduled recording

At one point in time I was using Acala Free Audio recorder while I was recording KHJK. I ended up leaving it going while I was gone on a trip and ended up with a 121 hour and 22 minute long, 8 gigabyte 160kbps mp3 file. I switched to Total Recorder and have it breaking the file into hour segments automatically as it records now. Another benefit to me was that I could tweak the quality settings more in Total Recorder, as I actually wanted the option of recording in much higher quality (like 320k mp3 and PCM) for special events that I was going to be editing and re-encoding later.

I recorded KHJK for 12.5 days straight with TR without having to do a thing except set it up at the beginning.

I used to record the Sunday Night Retro Revival Live broadcasts on 106-9 The Point from the Roxy using my computer back in 2001/2002.. 4 hrs @ 128K

Longest MP3 recorded: zero seconds. I use cassette tapes to record radio, mostly DX stations when I get them. I do have a few tapes of KHJK (RIP), and about three 90 minute tapes worth of KMJQ in 2011 when they had a weekend where they played all Michael Jackson and temporarily re-imaged as MJ102.1.

I am now using Alcala and it is on the 21st hour with no problems. I tried to install Total Voice, and because it is $12.95 unless you want a 1 second pause every minute with the free demo, but Alcala is working fine for me so far. The only problem with Alcala is you have to include .mp3 on the output file otherwise it will save it as a file and not the mp3 extension. I also dropped the bitrate down to 128k instead of using the 256k but using Q1 highest quality. I just don't see me paying money for software I can get legally for free.

BTW, It is almost on the 3rd day (I limit my Mp3 file size to less than 4.7 GB.)

I used QuickTime on my old MacBook Pro to record the last few days of KHPT 106.9 The Zone. The longest file is about 13 hours long (for some reason QuickTime would crash after a while and I would just start a new file); they are all in AAC 128 kbps codec (MP4). I used my Sony home theater thing to receive the station. There's a 60 Hz hum on some of the files, but this originated from the station because I also noted this in my car. All of the files have a little bit of hiss on them but that's because I live pretty far from the transmitter.

The MacBook Pro self-destructed earlier this year but I was able to get all the files off first. There's a few clips here, including the last 10 minutes of "The Zone" followed by the first 10 minutes of whatever the hell they replaced it with: http://mikerichardson.name/tidbits/music/

I see that I still have the record. I tried to report it to Guinness but they rejected it. To this day, I am still recording 98.9 Austin's Greatest Hits.

I tried playing it in my dad's avalon, it didn't work. I guess that the file is too long to play.
I will have to split the files up to play on the car's USB port.
